I was at a session with my personal trainer at the gym and he said that he'd taken his son to see Buzz Lightyear and disliked that the film included a lesbian couple. Apparently think it's too political and wants a non-political movie for his kid to watch and also believes that we have too much LGBT inclusion in TV/adverts/movies now, seemingly views it as tokenism.
What do you think? Do you think that LGBT representation in the media is over the top and forced?
Being gay myself, I don't like when it's overly forced or just for the sake of it but I'm sensing a bit of 'being gay is OK if kept behind closed doors' from him. I do think there is a certain amount of representation that is needed. I don't think it's political and if he is going to complain about a lesbian couple, surely the same applies to any straight couples in any kids movie?
