Hi,

Found a good deal I thought I would share for Taunton (TAU) to Cheltenham (CNM) via Bristol Parkway (BPW).

£69.00 TAU-CNM Anytime Return (+ first born child, welcome to British Railways! :))

£19.30 TAU-BPW Anytime Day Return
£13.20 BPW-CNM Anytime Day Return
£32.50 TOTAL - a £36.50 (50%+) saving!

That is based on returning the same day (which travelling TAU-CNM doesn't give me the option, even though I'm returning the same day thank you very much), however 2 sets of day singles (allowing returning the same day or any day even past 30 days) still nets a £27.20 saving.

Also, out of interest, when querying BPW-CNM I think I've found evidence of the next round of fare rises:

ZZZ - NOT FOR TRAVEL GW
00820 - GREAT WESTN ONLY

1 Adult @£ 10000.00 = £ 10000.00
__________
£ 10000.00

Standard Class Return

;)

Well if you have a child travelling with you it will be even cheaper with a family railcard. Adult 34% off and child 60% off child rate

Adult 21.45
child 6.50

Total 27.95

I know you have to pay for the railcard but after a few trips it pays for itself. And it does not matter if the child is under 5. As long as you buy a ticket for them and they tarvel with you then it will be valid.

Railcard costs £26 for a year. Any two adults can be named on the card.

Doesn't that apply to any journey? I don't see what benefits the family railcard confers in this scenario?
