Often it's linked to depot turnover, if you're near to a metro depot you may find they're quite soon. If however you've put down one of the mainline/coastal depots you'll likely be in for a bit of a wait.

They said “we are prioritising applicants who live within the areas that we are actively recruiting for”.

Does anyone know which areas/depots they are?

Mainly anywhere that’s metro work (London areas plus Dartford). Generally the ones further in Kent take on less trainees.

There's generally not too much movement for Dover/Ramsgate and Ashford had a mass influx last/this year.
I don’t mind travelling to wherever they need drivers, just hope it’s soon the assessment centre it’s positive that they are shortlisting people

I understand that but you'll need to be within 40 minutes of a depot, presumably that gives you Dover, Ramsgate, Ashford and Faversham. Given that requirement they're likely to prioritise depots with the highest turnover. That said they are carrying out assessments but have (so I'm led to believe) thousands waiting.

I put Dartford down as my preferred base , should I send them a further stating Slade Green and Gillingham as well or will they take that into account?

I believe second lowest paying TOC but one of the more expensive areas to live.

Thank you just received some information - £54k (seems one of the lowest paying tocs)

Remeber you don't get the full rate of 54k until a year of driving on your own.

Whilst your training its around 28k in the school rising to around 33 or 36k whilst with your instructor. When you pass out you go up to 44k for the first year before going up to 54k starting the 2nd year of being qualified.

Yes I'm aware. I was sent the breakdown of it all. Thank you!

Bump. They resent that email stating they're still shortlisting for assessments, and it will be prioritised on basis of specific depot demands. There's movement clearly. Slow, but movement still.

Got through the initial filter for trainee train driver position with southeastern and have already passed all the psychometric tests last year but seem to have been left in limbo. Last email I received from them was in July, saying the next stage was a classroom assessment which they will be in touch with me to organise in the future.... I'm hoping this is the standard waiting time and wondered if anyone can confirm this and speculate how long I may be awaiting the assessment date?
Thanks to anyone who may be able to shed some light.. apologies if this is common knowledge here as I am totally oblivious to such details.

I’d say if you have already passed the psychometrics then you should drop them an email stating so as I don’t think you’ll need to attend a classroom assessment

What, June just gone?!! Well that's really fair of them, my application was accepted September last year and my last email from them saying they appreciate my patience was in July!

Should I? I remember someone saying they don't like it if you contact them on a 'hurry up' sort of vibe.... Having said that I don't wanna sit here like a div in case it's a case of human error that u haven't been notified.

Just sent email and got phone call back from new person in charge of the recruitment who asked how far I live from Victoria I said 30 mins away and he goes "Oh sorry, we are looking for people who live within 20 minutes of Victoria...".

and basically just said hard luck, better luck next time.
I my answer though.
