What can rail users who support the strike action do to support the RMT?

For those of you in the industry who are intending to strike is there anything travellers/ commuters can do to help your action? Are there people we can write to to express our disappointment as customers at their failure to respond to the union's demands? Is it better for us to show up at the station on strike days so that whatever service runs is overwhelmed, or to stay at home and not cross the picket line? Is there any other action we can meaningfully take?

I appreciate not everyone agrees with the action but I'd rather, here, not have that discussion of the rights and wrongs of the strike: there are other threads for that. If you disagree with the action I respect that, but also ask that you respect the nature of this question which is predicated on agreeing with the action.

Not really! :(

In short, it's a political fight between two organisations who both wish to destroy one another. All those caught in the middle are, largely, an irrelevance!

And presumably the vast majority of MPs are already strongly in favour of one or the other, so writing to them probably wouldn't do lots in most cases.

The best thing you can do, is to spread the message of what the RMT are trying to do, explain why members are taking action and educate those around you. Now I’m not saying you should stand in the street preaching, but if it comes up in conversation, every little discussion helps.

Most people will comment on news articles thinking the industrial action is being taking place by those earning 60K salaries, but the reality is it’s your cleaners, your station staff and your customer service roles that are most under threat of being wiped from existence.

Regardless of my personal opinion on this strike I accept people have a right to strike and if those people work in public transport some people will be inconvenienced, but for someone who is not involved to deliberately go out of their way to inconvenience passengers even more would just be antisocial behaviour.
