1934 London Tube Map

Hi all, bit of a random one,

Clearing out the home of a distant relative and have come across an excellent condition London Tube Map (1934 v2)

I’ve no idea if it’s worth anything or just worth a recycling bin trip. I’d hate to throw anything out of a transport heritage but if it’s ten a penny I don’t mind so much!

One of Harry Beck's earlier efforts, presumably? If so, believe that similar examples have sometimes sold for several hundred £££. @jkkne, is yours a folded example?

check out Ebay. Old transport maps/timetables go for a few bob. Especially pre WW2.
Cant be bothered with Ebay? google transport past times. (Not my site)

Hopefully, someone will be able to further advise how best to maximise its potential sale price, should you wish to offload same. Good luck!

There's an outfit called Transport Auctions of London which has been going a few years: on the two occasions I tried to get hold of catalogues for forthcoming auctions they were never forwarded to me, so I have no idea what prices are sought or achieved for maps and other transport ephemera. A quick google revealed a 'lot' for sale in 2019 which comprised various maps, and a mention was made of the 1934 second edition Beck map being part of it, in vg condition. The guide price for the lot was £120 - £140, which I feel was on the low side for the variety on offer, but maybe some might jump at it.

Presumably there's a difference between a pocket-sized leaflet, and a larger-sized map intended for display on a station platform?

Certainly true in recent times but probably not in the 1930/40s
