There is a broken down Merseyrail train blocking the up line at Aigburth. Anyone know what’s gone awry?

Is that 'motor alternator' for the uninitiated? An MA failure causing some smoke.
Indeed it is.Is that 'motor alternator' for the uninitiated?
A few years ago Merseyrail posted on their twitter (probably around 5 years ago) that 2 of the class 507s were neck and neck to reaching the 3million mile mark. I can't remember the numbers they quoted.Incredible to think they are about 45 years old, has anyone any idea how many miles a typical unit may have done in its operational career?
Just picked a random 508 (141) and from the system I have it shows a life mileage of 2,943,344 - though I have no idea how accurate that is in reality.Incredible to think they are about 45 years old, has anyone any idea how many miles a typical unit may have done in its operational career?
How do you do that?Just picked a random 508 (141) and from the system I have it shows a life mileage of 2,943,344 - though I have no idea how accurate that is in reality.
Via an internal railway system. There's no public access. How do you do that?
Not only that, the 507s spent a few years doing that before the 508s had been built and when they were, several 508s spent time out of traffic around the time of privatisation in the 1990s after MTL decided to reduce the service, with some going to Silverlink or Connex South Eastern and others returning to the Merseyrail fleet.I'd have thought that the 507's would have higher lifetime mileage than the 508's seeing as they were used on the longer Northern lines almost exclusively at the beginning of their lives on Merseyside and also did not spend time out of traffic whilst being moved up from the South Western Division and converted to run as 3 car units.
Another random pick of a 507 (001 in this case) shows a life mileage of 3,459,194 so that seems a reasonable theory.I'd have thought that the 507's would have higher lifetime mileage than the 508's seeing as they were used on the longer Northern lines almost exclusively at the beginning of their lives on Merseyside and also did not spend time out of traffic whilst being moved up from the South Western Division and converted to run as 3 car units.
