Currently I have an oyster card which I have linked to my railcard.

I am visiting london tomorrow and want to get a new "Elizabeth line" linmited edition oyster card and was wandering if I am able to register it to the same account as the other oyster and link my railcard to it if the system would allow me to have 2 cards linked to the same railcard.

Obviously I wouldnt use the two cards at the same time, I would only use one card at a time, however I was wandering if this would be techcnically possible as this is done at a station where the staff member just puts in the expiry of your railcard and no further questions are asked, or weather I would have to set up another account and register the second card seperatly,

Would anyone here have any idea if this would be possible, or have some experience doing this?

I have no idea unfortunately, but as another point, how do you know you will definitely be able to get a Liz Oyster card in London? Where can you get them from?

I can’t foresee any practical barriers to this. You can have more than one oyster on an account, and the railcard discount is manually added without any background checks other than to ensure the card is registered.

Hello again,

Yes, you can link multiple Oyster cards to the same railcard. I wouldn't do it at the same time, or even the same place if only a few days apart. As you acknowledge the single railcard is needed to validate travel using any of the discounted cards, so you can only use one Oyster card at a time.

With the same account? Or should I register the second one with a separate account?

Same account, I can’t see how this will make any difference on the ground. The staff display (I believe) only shows whether the card is registered or not.

Same account is fine. When the discount is set there is no reference to any online account. It's just a setting on the actual card.
