Hello gentlemen,

I would like some advice please.
So I have just got a railway job and was sent for safety critical medical and drugs and alcohol screen last Friday before the job starts as as it is a "safety critical" job.
The only problem is that on Wednesday night I went out to the bar with the boys and drank about 8-9 biers (i can't really remember how many),
I went to the medical / D&A at 9 o'clock on Friday morning and blower the pipe for the alcohol test and the lady said; "OK it's zero!", Then I pissed in the bottle and it got sent to the laboratory for testing I think for drugs?
So have I passed or will the test my piss for just drugs or alcohol as well??
My last drink of bier was about midnight on Wednesday night and I had the piss test at 9 o'clock on Friday morning so about 36 hours I think.

Should I be worried?

Thanks so much!

There are various alcohol calculators online. When you took the test did you have to declare when your last drink was ?

Hi!

I told her I don't drink!!

Will they be suspicious?!

Lying during a medical is probably one of the worst things you could do. As you passed the breath test I would hope you passed the urine dip/lab test too. If it came back with alcohol present and they checked against you declaring you didn't drink then I would be worried. I doubt this is the case but I'm not a medical professional.

If I remember rightly a urine test has to be done sooner than 24 hours to test for alcohol

Indeed, but you are commencing a safety critical role on a lie! Personally I think you need to have a word with yourself.

So do they test the piss for alcohol as well normally or just coke / weed and other risky stuff like this?

I'm not 100% what the lab tests for but when I've had a medical and they tested my urine, they also do a quick dip test for diabetes, protein, blood, etc in your urine. I've never asked what the Lab tests for but you should have been given a chain of care document that will outline what is being tested.

Is this thread even genuine? A new member called ‘Alco ’’ asking about D&A procedures.
