I'm trying to book tickets Chester to London Euston for Saturday 14/05/2022. Both National Rail, Avanti West Coast and RailEasy sites showing no fares available. Any idea why? No Engineering Works currently showing. Avanti West Coast Site saying 'Timetables not yet confirmed'.

The timetable changes that weekend.
The timetable changes on the Sunday, which shouldn't affect the Saturday services.

Looks as if engineering work somewhere on the southern section of the WCML is reducing the number of trains running from/to Euston. With Chester/North Wales services requiring a change at Crewe.

Possibly the service is ''unreserved''. For some reason the booking sites class this as unavailable (yet every seat is available) and you cannot book and proceed to payment. It means sites like trainsplit can't work out a split for services you want as they too show ''unavailable'.
I've had to resort to buying an off-peak return for an early service just to get the ticket, Then had to go on twitter to get a seat reserved, which was utterly pointless as all seats were available anyway.
Avanti have lost 3 bookings from me this year already as I genuinely believed the train was fully booked and wouldn't have got on if I'd chanced it.

Avanti are making an utter mess of this sort-of-compulsory-reservation lark. I don't get how "do what LNER did" is hard.

Cheers for the replies - was hoping to book a cheap advance but I suppose I'm at the whim of Avanti as to when Timetables confirmed. Any idea when this might be?

It's also F.A. Cup Final day so either Liverpool or Manchester City will be playing the mighty Crystal Palace so Avanti are probably waiting to see where they can glean the most money from, Piccadilly or Lime Street

You mean organising the trains to best serve fans travelling to the game? This is Avanti you're on about
