Remember route learning via Peckham and apparently the 4 car mirror didn't pick up passengers at the very end of the platform ... it was quickly taped up !

That’s the bagged up 4 car monitor at Streatham in the Down Direction.

This is a very good idea but not sure if the warm storage is fluid; i.e. units being returned to traffic in exchange for others going to store

I doubt cost was a significant factor, the major expense will have been installing it all 30 years ago along with associated lighting upgrades.Routine maintenance to keep it in working order won’t have been high in comparison with other railway costs, it was probably just an inconvenience NR wanted rid rid of ASAP.

Believe its fluid, as 5830, which had been stored at Hove for two weeks was back in service yesterday I'm led to believe. Southern are starting to suffer with a shortage of serviceable 455's as of late

I believe they're all still available for service. Just some are outberthed at Hove and Horsham as there isn't the room in Selhurst Depot for them, and they're swapped over every so often

Unless it’s very recently disappeared, the GN DOO equipment is still in situ and functional, I think (not 100% but it was definitely still there a month or two ago).

Possibly more of an issue is that there was a requirement for staff to assist with dispatch at certain GN locations for some time. This would certainly have been an operational nuisance, though with 365s only serving a handful of stations since May 18 it wasn’t a massive one.

I guess it needs to eventually be officially 'decommisioned' on a set date. Seems pointless though to keep it going

Between Cambridge and Kings Lynn the station mounted DOO equipment is decommissioned, though at least some of it is yet to be removed. There is a maintenance cost: night time special trains regularly tested the DOO equipment, and these no longer run. This means that GA are no longer able to run all stations between Cambridge and Kings Lynn with class 317s.

The requirement for staff to assist with dispatch at stations with station mounted DOO equipment originated with 12 car trains, where there was not full provision of station mounted DOO equipment. But it was then extended to cover some 8 car trains too.

You'd guess so... wouldn't be good PR for 8x455 on a Tour to be 8x377

A class 455 Coupled to the remaining Trailing Coaches, hauled by a 33, then a 68, then a 50, then finally a 377 via the Emergency Coupler.

Has anyone else experienced a very jolty ride on a 455? I’ve been on a few where they leave the station at about 5mph until the driving carriage is off the platform they they jerk and start to accelerate. Not sure why the ride quality isn’t great

Sounds like the poster was referring to possible gapping rather than, say, suspension.
