Hi there,
I am going to Vicarage Road on Saturday 16th April and just found out that there are no trains to Watford Junction that day (my usual route) so therefore I will have to take the Met to Watford instead.
Is there an enhanced service provision when Watford are playing at home or does it remain 4tph?
Of course, this is complicated by the fact that there is an FA cup match on at Wembley as well - do they lay on extra Metropolitan line trains for that?
Either way, it is going to be a very busy train…

Chiltern from Marylebone to Harrow-on-the-Hill will bypass the Wembley crush from both directions (though Marylebone station itself will probably be full of Mancs and Scousers who changed in Birmingham), letting you change onto a then-empty Metropolitan Line service to Watford.

There are separate engineering works on the Aylesbury branch of Chiltern that day! It's going to be absolute carnage, best of luck to you!

There are changes to Uxbridge line services because of the Piccadilly Line engineering work on the Heathrow branch.

I don’t recall Metropolitan services previously being enhanced due to football at Watford.

Watford services remain at 15min intervals throughout.

Due to the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley:
During the return event traffic period (1730-2000 Saturday 16 April and 1830-2100 Sunday 17 April, allowing for extra time and penalties), ten southbound trains per hour will be diverted to run via the Fast Line from Harrow-on-the-Hill to Wembley Park platform 6.
2 Spare trains will be available to operate in Service Manager’s timings.
In connection with Network Rail Engineering works, Chiltern Railways will be suspended between Aylesbury and Marylebone. A Rail Replacement Bus Service will operate between Amersham and Aylesbury Vale Parkway.

I would suggest the Northern Line to Edgware and the 142 bus to Watford would be a quieter and more reliable, if longer, option

I can’t imagine taking the bus to be ever more reliable than the train or Underground!

RTT shows the Bakerloo Line is running throughout from Elephant & Castle to Harrow & Wealdstone and that LO are running from Kilburn High Road to Watford Jn.

I lived in Harrow for 10 years. When there is football at Wembley it's horrible on the Met, Bakerloo and Jubilee lines. You can end up waiting for several trains before you can even get on, and then it's not a nice environment even when it's supporters of your own team.

But even that will probably be rammed with people going to Wembley Central! Probably best just chancing it on the Met.

I've never known the Met Watford trains to be rammed when I've gone to Vicarage Road as an away fan, as relatively few Watford fans will be travelling that way. The FA Cup crowds at Wembley on the other hand...

I'd suggest leaving a bit earlier as the Wembley crowds could be horrendous, then having a walk around Cassiobury Park to kill time...

The Met Line currently has a reduced service after issues with a large part of the fleet necessitating their grounding for inspection.

Jubilee and rail replacement coach from Stanmore might be a reliable option. The coach replacement tends to be very over resourced.

I don’t think that will be too problematic. The timetable says that the Watford services remain at 4tph as they were before

The normal weekend timetable is planned to operate at weekends; the special service only operates Mondays to Fridays.

The London Overground appears to running from Willesden Junction to Watford High Street according to the TfL website.

So does this mean there won't be any problems getting to and from Wembley on Sunday?

Wasn’t awful. Ended up taking a taxi on the way there, which, although took quite a while, was much easier than a crowded train. Took the Met on the way back - it took a long time as well, but the crowd wasn’t much of an issue as I was already on the train well before the time it reached Wembley.
