Please recommend stations in the west midlands.

Hi all, I am brand new here so I hope this topic isn't too off topic etc.

I want to make some railway themed lino prints, so I am looking for some station recommendations in the west mids area that have plenty of busy detail going on - like overhead gantries for example, plenty of services coming in and out etc. New Street is the obvious choice I think, but I am just wondering if anyone can recommend any other stations?

Depending on what you wish to portray. Places like Birmingham International, with its modernist boxy architecture. For a more period feel there's Birmingham Moor Street.

How about Smethwick Galton Bridge - The GWR Brick Arch Viaduct and the Cast Iron Thomas Telford bridge?

The south end of Wolverhampton station perhaps? A pendolino going over the bridge that veers to the right is a good photo opportunity!

How you getting to Moor Street? Wouldn't you already have some ticket to get there, (or pass through there)?

Also, are any of the stations suggested upthread subject to any rules for filming or photography? Is what you are contemplating (railway themed lino prints?) for personal or commercial use?

No, but a single to Snow Hill is £2.70.

A Daytripper for unlimited travel in the West Midlands (after 09:30 Mon-Fri) is £7.20

And a tad tricky if getting a train there. And, having done so, even more so then getting back home again afterwards unless it's a Birmingham City match day!

Moor Street is one of the prettiest stations in England.

A lot of the old GWR stations in the West Midlands are very well kept, Leamington Spa has a gorgeous Art Deco exterior and very interesting/pretty platform buildings. For a smaller station I’d say Wilmcote on the Stratford branch or even Atherstone on the Trent Valley which has a very pretty station building.

It's not technically in the West Midlands but very easy to get to if you're heading north on the WCML anyway - if you want the "busy" feel without the station itself being massive, then try Stoke-on-Trent. If you stand on the footbridge (where the lifts go) at the right time, you can get trains in all 3 platforms with a lot of passengers moving around, and there's also a rather nice glass roof, plenty of posts and gantries, and the brick station buildings.

Oddly Stoke is part of the West Midlands (in Staffordshire) but has a more Northernly culture to it.
