Which railway stations have been closed since 2000 and not been replaced in some way? I'm thinking of ones such as Etruria but not (for example) Oldham Mumps which is being replaced by a Metrolink station.

Silvertown and North Woolwichh on the former North London Line. Closed without replacement, Silvertown DLR was already open when line closed and the nearest station to North Woolwich is King George vi station on the DLR again already open when line closed.

The one in Derby (Sinfin?) and the one in Watford which both had token bus-replacement services for a long time?

Wasnt the rail replacement bus service on the Croxley Green branch withdrawn in the last century by Silverlink? I am sure it was i think 1998. I am sure Metroland may know.

What about name changes? I understand that Southern are about to re-name Smitham as Coulsdon Town or somesuch. Perhaps Redhill could become Reigate Junction again.

BygoneLines tells us that it did indeed close earlier this century...
Closed: Temp closure 25.3.1996; Official closure 30.3.2003.
The [train] shuttle service to Watford Junction was withdrawn in 1996 and replaced by a bus to allow a new dual carriageway road to be built. The branch was officially closed in 2003.

Fair comment about Silvertown, I suppose.

But I disagree re North Woolwich/King George V. While it's true that the DLR opened before North Woolwich closed, I think it's fairly clear that the purpose of the DLR extension was in part to serve as a replacement (and amelioration) of the North Woolwich branch line; a pre-emptive replacement if you like.

Certainly I can't see any justification for more than one station in the North Woolwich area to be open.

(I suppose that, although a little further away from Silvertown, London City Airport DLR could be seen as a partial replacement for that station, although the case is less clear cut than North Woolwich/King George V).

Does Norton Bridge still have a replacement bus service?

Yeah, as do Barlatson and Wedgwood, not that many left really, the old Croxley Green branch may still retain a service with the redeveloped Met line.

They do still have the Bus replacement and also Barlaston and Wedgewood have no Trains as well!

I suspect the proposed remodelling of Stafford/Norton Bridge will determine the future of the Stoke-Stafford service, if it doesn't change from the remodelling, I doubt it ever will :(

Oldham Werneth was on the Oldham Loop line but won't be re-opening when the Metrolink works are completed.

It does indeed, but it's hardly regular or convenient. More a sort of begrudging "token" service than an attempt to fill the void left by the loss of the train service (Though I doubt that was ever particularly regular either tbh).

Suppose you could argue that Allerton and Garston stations which closed in 2005 and 2006 respectively, have been replaced by Liverpool South Parkway, and King's Cross Thameslink which closed in 2007 has been replaced by the new Thameslink station at St.Pancras.

Has anyone mentioned Abercynon North in South Wales which closed in 2008?

Or how about Barbican on the Thameslink Moorgate branch, which closed in 2009?

Technically I think it does - though the station is almost as good as closed!

i think i read somewhere that NR are going to re model the junction at Norton bridge, could this be the final nail?

There is a thread on the forums here about it - though its going to be some time before its done!

It was the X1 that was the substitute service, however, the timetable doesn't specifically state the station as a stop (though others are) and the X1 only now runs as far as the hospital in Stafford and not down to the station like it used to, so not sure if its still the official replacement service anymore

OK, so its now officially D&G bus service 490/491 that serve Norton Bridge and run one of the most irregular services I have possibly ever seen!

Every single bus does a different route!
