Can I check my understanding of the main permitted routes for 'any permitted' London Terminals to Filey?

Via York and Seamer
Via Doncaster Goole Brough and Hull
Via Doncaster Selby Brough and Hull

I think all are permitted - from London Kings Cross

I think there might be a permitted route out of St Pancras as well - can anyone confirm which it would be? Is it the via Sheffield then Doncaster and as above?

The NRE journey planner will give you an itinerary via Leicester and Seamer or Goole (Selby would also work, and I would presume Nottingham instead of Derby). And any of the 3 routes between Sheffield and York is OK.

Yes, from Kings Cross you can essentially take the ECML and all its branches (the Hertford Loop, via Cambridge and Ely, the "GNGE" lines via Spalding/Sleaford/Lincoln/Gainsborough, via Leeds or via Hambleton) up to York or Doncaster and then as you describe.

You can also travel from:
  • Moorgate - up to Finsbury Park, then as per KGX
  • Liverpool Street - via Stratford or Cambridge Heath, via Tottenham Hale or Seven Sisters, then up the WAML to Cambridge, Ely, then as per KGX from Peterborough
  • St Pancras - up the MML to Kettering, then via Oakham or Market Harborough, then up to Sheffield or Retford via Nottingham, Derby, Worksop etc., then up to Doncaster or York via Leeds, Wakefield, Pontefract etc.
