In an email from SWR on 8 March, they announced that Tap2Go would only take into account tickets loaded onto the same smartcard when calculating the fare.

But what they didn't publicise was an additional change which has appeared on the website: "Add up to two Railcards to your Tap2Go account using the ‘My Account’ functionality. To add a Railcard log into your SWR account and select ‘Manage your Railcard’ from the left hand menu".

The fact that it isn't accepted on XC services still renders it useless between Bournemouth - Basingstoke.

I can't see the option to add railcards anywhere, either under Manage Your Smartcards or Tap2Go.

There isn't a ‘Manage your Railcard’ for me on my account. Maybe you must have already enabled Tap2Go if someone who has can confirm?

Yes I believe you need to have enabled Tap2Go. For me, the "Manage Your Railcard" option appears between "Manage Your Smartcards" and "Tap2Go" on the left hand side menu.

I thought XC had previously been required to cooperate with SWT smart card fares by issuing their staff with suitable reading equipment, although that was a few years ago.

Tap2Go requires you to travel on SWR services only, which isn’t all that useful for journeys like Cosham to Southampton Central, where only 1tph of the current 3tph (usually 4tph) are actually operated by SWR.

Does that mean the first journey you make must be at full adult rate? That seems a bit frustrating and an immediate waste of money.
