Booked train disappeared from journey planners

Hi everyone.

On Thursday I booked a London Euston to Crewe advance ticket on Avanti West Coast for Saturday 12th March. Train departs at 10.33 and arrives at Crewe at 12.15

Today I noticed this train had disappeared from all the journey planners. I know timetables are being changed at quite short notice, but there was no warning about Avanti West Coast services on that date and their website only mentions Monday to Friday services being subject to alteration.

I checked real time trains for today and it doesn't seem to have run either.

What are my options? I don't really want to have to buy another ticket because they're all more expensive. Can I just get on a different train at a similar time, as long as it's Avanti West Coast?

Thanks for your help!

You can simply use the next available Avanti West Coast service if that suits you; there's no need to rebook or get permission, just get on. It's likely you will also be able to use the previous one too. Or you can have a refund if that's better for you, but this sounds unlikely.

I have a similar situation with a GWR train from Devonport. It's not a problem for me to leave an hour later but would I be able to claim Delay Repay ?

Please consider sending Avanti a formal complaint.
It won't do any good, and they probably won't even understand your complaint, but if you have a ticket for a specific train then they need to inform you when they cancel or retime the train.
You're not the only person to report this nonsense. But I hope the other information here helps you get to your destination quickly.

That will be very difficult for Avanti to do if the OP booked the ticket through someone other than Avanti (I read the opening post as buying a ticket for travel on an Avanti service, rather than buying on the Avanti website - apologies if I read that incorrectly).

So complain to whoever sold the ticket, then. It's not good enough when agreeing to an advance ticket on a specific train if you're not told when the train is cancelled or rescheduled, and making out that it's your fault for not looking is what'll happen, but it's frankly impossible to imagine for rescheduled flights, so why can't the railways do it?

Indeed, this is about the poorest thing the railway does. I get flight alteration emails all the time regardless of the point of purchase.

Reckon we could start off quite an extensive new thread on the topic of "Things that the railway does poorly".

Poor communication will undoubtedly be up there.
