WMR 323 visit(s) to Longsight

Passing Longsight Electric, spotted a WMR 323 (what appeared to be just one of the cab cars!) behind a shunter at the Levenshulme end. Unfortunately no picture as it had passed before I quite realised!
Anyone happen to know which unit, or what it's doing up in Manchester? I thought these were maintained by a certain brown bear down in Brum

- Transfer to Northern (17 units): 323202/203/205-213/217-219/241-243
- Off-lease (9 units): 323201/204/214-216/220-222/240

Hopefully the electrification from Wigan to Lostock Junction and Bromley Street to Stalybridge will allow the remaining units to transfer to Northern rather than go off-lease

Thanks! To be honest I wasn't sure if I was seeing things...
I did initially think it was to do with the transfers, and the 730s had come on further than I thought when I looked. (I have low expectations of new units apparently)
I suppose Tyseley is busy then if it's come up this way

Also suspect the wheelathe at longsight is exactly the same purpose to save on loco drags to tyseley.
However Midlands 323s ie wmt. Ex London Midlands or central trains ones are no strangers to longsight wheelathe they have been there before.
Also way back in time green 323207 1994 to mid 1995 spent quite a bit off time at longsight in the green regional railways Central trains livery. Before the gmpte rail ones appeared because it was being as 323 for Manchester Piccadilly guards and drivers as well at the time.

Indeed it is, however the plan has been put back again due to the late delivery/ introduction of WM new trains - its going to be into 2023 before the first 323s transfer north - the 319s (originally planned to be gone two years ago) will now linger in the NW until at least summer 2023.

But because of additional electrification in the north to Wigan and Stalybridge which may well be complete by summer 2023, will all 323s then be able to transfer without going off lease?

323211 definitely in service. Had it on Wednesday paired with 209

No actual WMR staff trained on then and AFAIK no package agreed. Units still on mileage accumulation AFAIK. Unless anyone knows differently.

323206 made the trip to Longsight. Managed to get it on the Railcam at Crewe.

I believe this leaves 202/219/241/242 to be done if I’m right in thinking?
