Is there an easy way to find out which passenger trains convey first class accommodation between Clapham Junction and Surbiton?
It looks like I'll be doing an occasional journey during the peaks. As it'll be once a month or so, I'm happy to pay the extra for first class.
However, it seems I need to look at each departure to check if it actually is meant to have first class. It appears most in the morning peak from Surbiton don't.
Any suggestions please?

Shown in the SWR timetable for Waterloo to Surbiton by a 1 in the column heading.

Trains from Surbiton to Clapham Junction in the morning peak are only stopping services and hence have no first class. There are some with first class in the opposite direction but the journey is only ten minutes.

£8 single in first class today, £16 return, compared to £5.30 single / £10.30 single in standard class on paper tickets and £3.20 peak / £4.60 off peak on Oyster for a single standard class journey, but I assume you are coming from further away.

Many thanks.
The last time I did this journey, I had to stand. I was standing next to a first class compartment which had seats available, and wished I'd paid the extra for a seat .
Thanks again for your reply.

The fastest service between Clapham Junction and Surbiton only takes 10 minutes, surely it’s not worth the extra money? Each to their own I suppose though.

Another thing to consider is the poor state of SWR’s first class offering on Class 450s. They’ve somehow managed to make it feel more cramped than the 3+2 layout in standard class.
