Hi guys,

XC early November posted vacancies for the Senior Conductors and then mid November posted for Train Managers, both based at Birmingham. Has anyone heard back from them yet, or has recruitment been suspended due to the service alterations? I applied to both but nothing yet. :( Thankyou!

I applied for both of these positions based at Birmingham New Street station but haven’t heard anything yet. When I log in to the careers portal they both still say application in process.

Given it is only a month ago since the TM vacancies were on DB and Christmas is just around the corner, there is every chance you will not recieve an update about these roles until early next year.

XC have a small recruitment team and they do take quite a while getting back to applicants. It's fair to say, railway recruitment is a long slow process, so please be patient.

Hi CJ,

Definitely appreciate your points - can appreciate XC are in an odd world at the moment, with the service reductions, driver issues and apparent onboard crew disputes afoot (friend in WM says he's already had emails about ticket exceptions this weekend). The reason I enquired, especially regards to the SC role is that the advert had requested for people who could start in January. If not for that, I would have left for say two three months knowing how things can be. Hope I didn't come across as too jumpy - circumstance as explained, I hope explains now.

Happy to await events calmly.

I would take the proposed start dates with a pinch of salt. XC do seem to advertise the start dates for successful candidates, but invariably the dates can be later than proposed.

Hi, just wondering if any of you have heard from the crosscountry senior conductor/train manager applications we made back in November and December? I have 3 of those, one also applied with Chiltern Railways. All my applications still stating Application In Process, just not sure what's going on with those applications.

I applied for the Senior Conductor at Bristol in December and got an email on the 30th saying I was unsuccessful

I applied for both sets of BNS jobs. I am still Application In process for both and have had no contact nor rejections.

Not surprising for Crosscountry, I’m not convinced that they even receive half the applications as some get update emails, but some don’t, and some of the ones that don’t are showing as Application in Progress but yet some have been rejected??! Makes no sense, why would you only send update emails to some of your applicants that are still in progress? It’s not like you have progressed them to next stage by letting them know that they have a 2 - 4 wait for further clarification. Something seems a miss with their systems to me. Either that or they are just next to useless...or feckless as my Dad would have said!

A friend in the industry emailed them regarding his application as he was hoping to make a quick swap over - he's trained in some of the traction that XC. He never even got an automated reply from that. So I am of the thought that if we have not heard by now, it is a strike out.

I’m not surprised from what I’ve read. They seem a total waste of time and energy. Mind you, most other rail companies are not far removed from this either, but XC seem particularly cack.
