Comedic "things you would ban": minor things that irritate you

I just wander in to my local branch whenever I need to. There is always someone out the front with a laptop who can answer odd queries, including ones that need checking with your account. If your query is more complicated you may need an appointment, but if there is someone free they will try and sort it out in one of the interview rooms there and then.

The last time I visited a bank it felt like I was a non famous person walking into The Ivy without a reservation…

Last year my HSBC security keypad thing died. I figured the easiest way to get a replacement would be to visit the local branch. They could not have been more helpful. They even came out from behind the counter and gave me access to one of their PCs (in the public area) so I could complete the setup and be sure all was working before leaving the branch.

Then back the next day for another because the original replacement locked up within hours.

Calendars that start the week on a Sunday.
In Europe, Saturday and Sunday are known as the weekend, so Monday is the first day of the new week.
I realise different rules apply in other parts of the world where they generally have Friday and Saturday off.

There was one TOC that had different start dates on the home page and "book tickets" section of their website.

Whilst I'm moaning, websites that default to today's date for the return journey after you've entered a future date for the outward sector.

I'd like to ban councils from installing temporary traffic lights on 4 way junctions which only let one direction go at once, when it would be far more efficient for them to allow two parallel directions at once with a short pause at the end with all ways red to allow people to finish turning right.

It's bad enough when someone says "class eight"... even though it shouldn't annoy, it "makes my teeth itch!"

If someone said that to me I’d snap the lead in the pencil and twitch slightly like Captain Darling.

The incorrect use of 'off of'. It just sounds awful.

The taking off of the rocket was most spectacular. Nice :) 8-)

Fetch that book off of the shelf. NO! NASTY!! Slap, slap! :{:p

Do you pronounce the class of a shunter as "zero eight" or "nought eight"?

In spite of myself, I tend to to have a similar reaction if someone pronounces a specific member of any given locomotive/unit class with the number zero in it as, say: Fifty-Six-Zero-Zero-Six or Fifty-Seven-Zero-Zero-One. Haven't heard the equivalent for nought personally (yet), but it'd undoubtedly make my left eye twitch furiously. I know I know, of all the things I could throw a leg out of bed* over, this is the one I'm stabling overnight* on...

*: Puns are very much intended and coat is already on... ;)

I'd ban the current irritating Natwest mortgage ad that keeps coming up on YouTube, for the simple reason of when it says 'make those colour swatches come to life' it sounds more like 'make those callus watches come to life' to me. It drives me absolutely nuts!

Staying with Natwest, in the last couple of months they've gone from a purple-themed card design to something that looks much more childish. It's almost embarrassing!

Cheesiness and over-sentimentality. It seems to be in most areas of mainstream society.

I'll just ban NatWest. I would say there are plenty of more competent banks with better customer service.
