Lolz when I was on Peak Rail I commented that since most other lines had a nickname (Bluebell Line, Lavender Line) we needed one too. I said that since Pot Noodles were popular and the staple food at Darley Dale we should call it the Pot Noodle Line.
I just managed to duck when a spanner was thrown at my head. :roll:

Yes indeed; many of the former mills in the town were dedicated to the production of 'narrow fabrics'. We still have the remains of a reel of the stuff that goes back to the days when my wife worked for a firm of solicitors in Stockport!

I also remember that one of the Steam Railway type mags produced a rather sarcastic "advent calendar" type thing for the year ahead which was supposed to an idea of what various preserved railways would be doing each month. At the end of each month it said "Peak Rail expect to run into Matlock NEXT MONTH"!!
Also when we did the level crossing at Darley Dale one of the volunteers did a writeup on it and thanked all the volunteers involved including a Mr P. Crail ! The Editor didn't notice it and it made it into the magazine.....
