Freightliner - Trainee Drivers 2022 - (01/11/21)

MMI was about an 1hr 15min. Following all the other testing with minimal breaks. Had half hour to get air and fed then straight in.

Met some good guys and the OPC staff were brilliant. Did their best to put you at ease.

Overall, regardless of outcome, s good experience and would definitely do the MMI again given the opportunity.

How long does the MMI tend to last, about an hour? Must be brutal after a full day of tests

The 6 key questions can be easily found on this forum and if you do your prep well enough then the MMI can be quite enjoyable telling the assessor what you have done and achieved in the past

Totally agree with this! I was prepared for the questions.

Was just hard after 5 hours of near continual assessment without anymore than a quick pit stop!

Be prepared for how difficult the day itself is, especially when completing all assessments in the one day. It cannot be underestimated.

Totally agree with this! I was prepared for the questions.

Was just hard after 5 hours of near continual assessment without anymore than a quick pit stop!

Be prepared for how difficult the day itself is, especially when completing all assessments in the one day. It cannot be underestimated.

I did mine all in one day and to be honest I think I preferred that way than to keep going back to complete it but then every TOC / FOC does it their own way

I got a conditional job offer yesterday for heavy haul at Sandiacre, with a course starting potentially in May. Got a medical booked in London on 18th too.

Good luck and fingers crossed for us both on these final hurdles.

Out of interest, how long did they leave you hanging on for after the MMI? Was it the 7-10 days or quicker?

Passed them so ok I guess.

Eyes took a pasting on the back square test, but otherwise ok I think. Controls for the 2 hand year are off and joysticks come apart easily!

On the whole, tests were easier than the practice materials I'd purchased, but the pressure was clearly higher so compensation for the level of challenge to a point.

I found them quite straight forward, if you keep your head and pay attention to the instructions I don’t think you can go far wrong while doing them.

Evening everyone, I had my OPC assessments last Thursday. Nothing like I’ve experienced before in terms of the cut throat process, 8 of us started the day and only 2 of us made it to the computer tests in the afternoon. I thankfully passed the computer tests and had the MMI. Honestly thought I’d messed every single part of the day up but I can’t emphasise enough the need for practice. Practice and research everything and it gives you such an advantage. Thankfully had the email today to say I was successful in the MMI also which again I thought I messed up. Been told Freightliner will be in touch within a few weeks, does anyone know how long this might be or if I’m just going to put at the back of a line in a talent pool? The depot I’ve applied for is Tunstead.

Yes definitely use this software as opposed to the ‘how2become’ which was next to useless!

Just heard (NEXT DAY!) that I actually passed the MMI. I am in shock!

I'm very pleased about that, I genuinely thought I'd screwed it up yesterday. A week of uncertainty would have been horrific.

Just medical to go isn't it? I'm assuming that there's also no guarantee of that as they must have a target number of people needed for each depot. So many unknowns.

Yes it will be medical and background/reference checks next, once a place has been found for you.

I would say if you are unsure of your health get yourself checked out as soon as you can so you can possibly make lifestyle adjustments to help in the medical if you need to and there is time before the medical.

Thanks for the advice. References shouldn't be an issue, might burn a few calories just to be on the safe side

To practice Atavt test I used Google map street view to find some busy junctions in cities and printed them off, my wife held them up for a few seconds and I wrote down if a remembered cars/pedestrians/traffic lights etc
The Bourdon test us easy to practice (loads of material out there for free)
The other tests I used the practice material I was sent!
None of them are particularly difficult, the thing to remember is…. This is a job you need to stay level headed and calm, the tests are as much about how you deal with pressure and how you recover from mistakes as it is about the task your doing!!
