Excellent report on this outpost of semaphore signals. I hope you had chance to admire the brand new road gates at Hubberts Bridge?

I thought they were new - I believe they were still wooden when I visited five years ago, but the replacements are an extremely good likeness to traditional wooden gates!

Replacement gates were completed a few weeks ago. The new gates are metal, but I haven't had chance to work them myself yet. There's now a programme in place to replace (like-for-like) at other locations across Lincolnshire. The next priority being Bellwater Jct, which also retains a working semaphore distant (Up direction only)

I tried to get to the up Bellwater up distant when I was staying in Wainfleet in January 2020 and had booked the wonderful demand responsive mini-bus to drop me at the level crossing near the village of Little Steeping, the next one north of Bellwater! Alas the distant proved impossible to get near enough for a photo.
