Once again, I was watching old youtube videos and came across something a little unusual, can anyone identify the livery of the MK1's being pulled by the RES 47 at 0:50? There are standard IC MK1's present but also a darker livery that I don't think I've seen before. Although I am half contemplating that they are just bog-standard maroon carriages that the 1990's camera quality is tricking me into believing that they are something else.

Bonus points for anyone that can explain the service too please as I didn't realise MK1's were still in service on the WCML at this time?

Do you have a link to the video @Iskra, one doesn't seem to have appeared in your post text?

Is the date wrong then because I thought he bought the Special Trains Unit in 1994, not 1992. Or did he run his own charters before the buyout?
The date is even more wrong. The Special Trains Unit (assets only, no contracts) was sold to Mr Waterman on 31 March 1995, I believe.

What colour are the MK1s? Are they black with white stripes, or is it a dark blue/green?

I can imagine that looked quite good in the flesh!
Inspired by (historical) London & North Western Railway passenger vehicle colours, I understand. It must be a coincidence that Mr Waterman also set up a maintenance company called London And North Western Railway Company Limited (since sold to Arriva)!

Given Waterman's music connections, are you sure it's not Deep Purple?
If only the music he produced was that good…
If the livery was reflective of the music he was making it would have been a slightly vomit inducing beige.
