ECML South Diverts 2022

Looking at timings for a Saturday / Sunday trip KX-Newcastle early next year, and *every* weekend in January, February and March shows extended journey times of 4h+ in both directions. Is there any site that shows the details of what this is all about in one place? I have checked LNER‘s site and it’s pretty useless for looking this far ahead, and National Rail requires you to check each date individually which isn’t ideal.

If you’re knowledgeable enough to read the info, you can look at RealTimeTrains in detailed mode. This will give you the timing points, and it’ll tell you which diversion the service is taking. It won’t tell you what the closure is for though if that’s the information you require.

8/9, 15/16, 22/23 Jan diversion via Cambridge
29/30 Jan, 5/6, 12/13 Feb via Sunderland
19/20, 26/27 Feb, 5/6, 12/13, 19/20, 26/27 Mar via Leeds between Doncaster and York. Sundays on these weekends also diverted via Hertford North.
2/3, 9/10 April via Hambleton between Doncaster and Leeds.

The same tests would have also taken the units up to Downham Market (don't know why).

Probably because early on in the development of the Intercity Express specification there was consideration given to using the trains on Fen Line services.

Looks like all up services are running slow line from Stoke to Peterborough for some reason.

What's going on there?

Emergency engineering work at Peterborough, which means single line working, using a pilot man from Tallington to near Helpston. This was not scheduled to take place, when the timetable had been confirmed.
It involves work at Spittal Junction which should of happened over the Christmas period.

Today it appeared that just a single slow line was in use by BI-modes /running on diesel in the Tallington/Helpston area (saw a GNER head towards Peterborough and Grand Central towards Grantham using the same slow line about half an hour apart whilst out walking this afternoon). The EMR Norwich-Liverpool services were running via the Stamford route.
