Indeed! I think they were, as a rule, loco-hauled, although there were obviously exceptions.

Usually Baby Sulzers on 4 or 5 Mk1s I think until replaced by 47s in the early/mid-1980s, and in earlier years you had the through workings to Leeds/Nott/St Pan via the S&C with 45s (or was it 40s?) iirc.

I reckon a 380 has probably stopped there and there's still a 158 or two booked along the route to swap units between Glasgow and Edinburgh.

I know about LO 313’s and SN 450/1’s; but I’ve not heard of them meeting before….

These were 350/1 which were hired by Southern for a few months to work the Watford to East Croydon service.

They have, including the ones with tram-train wheel profiles, as they were delivered with traditional wheel profiles and modified later for use to/from Rotheram.. Parkgate would however qualify, as the older Siemens-Duewag trams aren't permitted to venture onto Network Rail tracks.

Stations which have moved probably count as separate, although I can't think of a recent one.

Beauly - I think its 2002 re-opening is after the Far North went to 158 operation, so 158 only

Caldercruix, Blackridge, Armadale and the new Drumgelloch would all be 334 only since re-opening

Class 380s were used on some Edinburgh to Glasgow via Cumbernauld services. But not sure if any have been used in the last year.

All of the Cross City line stations have had various DMUs prior to electrification. Before 323s became the norm there have been various EMUs (Classes 304, 308, 310).

Liverpool Central is only served by the effectively identical 507/508’s. And pre covid it had 16 million passengers a year - I imagine one of the busiest in the country to be served by one type of unit

bearing in mind the OP specified 'ever', even the Victoria Line platforms have been served by the original 60s stock and the '09 stock. The Sub-surface lines have had quite a few more train types call in their longer life!
Victoria Underground station doesn't include 'London' in it's name, as a point of pedantry. Only 1 station on the LUL network does - London Bridge.

A 153 went to Treherbert last year, scraping several platforms and getting stuck…

I added 'International' for a reason. Waterloo International only ever had 373s in regular service, before the station was closed. The international platforms are used now, but Waterloo International as a station no longer exists. I'm pretty sure all the Eurostar-branded BR services (the Regional Eurostar services and the 455-operated Gatwick shuttles) only used the regular Waterloo, so it would indeed be 373s only.

The second station in South Shields was only ever served by the current Tyne & Wear Metrocars. Now demolished, so the upcoming Stadler fleet won’t ever serve it.



Gretna Green has been served by 142s on occasion. 142s sometimes made it to Dumfries on the early morning workings with Northern crews, despite them not actually being route cleared.

The re-sited Bathgate station has also only had 334s serve it.

Breich has had 158s stop since the rebuild so wouldn’t count either way.



The 38 stock train had a trip along the JLE to Stratford shortly before ATO was fitted to the line, but won’t have stopped at any of the underground stations on it as the doors on the 38 stock don’t match the platform edge doors.

The 38 stock hasn’t been to Battersea, not sure about Heathrow.

Resited Bathgate has also had a 158 and 170 serve it before the A2B fully reopened and it continued for a period after the line opened. I recall doing it in the first few weeks and saw a 170 roll in on a terminating service.
