I agree that Boris should have been honest for once in his life and said there was the chance of a new varient coming along, however I am also finding it hard to believe vaccination is the way out of this now given the number of times the government has lied.

Vaccination isn't the way out. It's an interim way of holding back the tide. Antiviral treatment is our exit strategy, and we have effective medication already available and approved. This seems to get forgotten. Covid has become a treatable disease.

As for costs, it is far better value than other measures and as for concerns for what is in it, I dont think people even look at the ingredients in a lovely pint of local ale!

But they get implemented anyway, as we've seen.regardless of what vaccines have been put into people. Sorry, but that line has been played one too many times.

And it is difficult when you've got to travel miles away to get it done, and I don't even like needles anyway.

Yeah, it’s absolute madness some of the comments on RailUK on this issue. I see that since you’ve posted that comment, a number of defensive comments has come your way, taking umbridge with what you have said.

'Some other medical professional' would be better, given the GP has a specific financial incentive to persuade you to take the vaccine.

Hopefully most GPs are decent enough people not to have that affect their advice, but it does call into question their objectivity.

GPs are to be paid up to £30 per vaccine as part of a ramping up of the booster jab roll-out in the UK, NHS chief executive Amanda Pritchard has announced.

Ms Pritchard said at a Downing Street Press conference about Covid booster jabs today that the payment GPs receive for administering a Covid jab is to be increased from £12.58 a shot to £15 Monday to Saturday and £20 on Sundays.

If that's the case, politicians and advisors should have been honest and said that. Don't complain when "vaccines are the way out" was repeated so much before they came around, then find people give up on anything to do with managing covid when restrictions and other measures get put back in, despite having received all the doses available to them.

Elsewhere we have another record case count of 88,376, but once more testing has surged again and the positivity rate has only slightly increased to 10.2%, having fluctuated between this and around 9% for over a month.

Add to that the rise in cases since November 6th from about 27,000 cases to now, which is a rise of about 225%.

Ventilator usage has been falling steadily since, about 10% in the same period. You can’t therefore use the “wait two weeks” argument.

Deaths have fallen about 40% in the same period.

Again, you aren’t allowed to try the “wait two weeks” baloney.

Simple facts:
- It’s milder
- We are heavily vaccinated
- We have lots of NHS capacity compared to last year

'Bed blockers' shouldn't be in any kind of hospital. The issue of rapid deployment of home adaptations, meeting home care needs and such like needs to be addressed. It has needed to be addressed for many years. While you are in hospital the NHS pays, when you are elsewhere the council pays you pay until you run out of money at which point the council offers to pay some. Merge the two budgets under one common organisation and a lot of the problems could be resolved as the 'who pays' disappears.

Announced as in a caller to LBC who wouldn't give his name claiming it was his antivaxxer father who died of it despite refusing to go out for the last 18 months (the only antivaxxer and fake virus conspiracist I know of who self quarantined).

I'm not sure whether he then claimed to be a Nigerian Prince who needed £5,000 to get probate to release his fathers multimillion pound will but it wouldn't surprise me.

Correction, what kicked off the vaccine scepticism was that, after Wakefields raised concerns about the triple jab, the UK and other governments responded by refusing to make the single jab option available for those who wanted it, giving anyone dissenting a hard time and Blair refusing to say if his son had had it is what started the modern trend, and finally the manufacturers being pressurised to withdraw the single mumps vaccine.

Personally I paid for the singles privately for my brood at no insignificant cost as I saw no point in taking unnecessary risks (also a lot of evidence that you get better immunity from the singles spaced six weeks apart than all three dumped in together in a single jab).

The streak of fascist we-know-best-and-you-will-do-as-you-are-told authoritarianism in the health establiahment was revealed during the Wakefield fiasco long before Covid.
