Sale notice for Heritage assets:
https://sharedsystems.eu-supply.com...rnUrl=ctm/Supplier/PublicTenders&b=SELLAFIELD

At the same time they are engaging with the market for 8 locos to hire in for RHTT work, given the age requirements it will not class 37/47/57s:
https://sharedsystems.eu-supply.com...rnUrl=ctm/Supplier/publictenders&b=SELLAFIELD
Sounds like a tender issued to borrow more 66s (or 67s) from the DB Staple then. Presumably that will explain why DB have been returning some of the redundant ECR 66s from France?

Can't comment on the 20s, 37s or 57/0s (although some are bound to land up seeing the cutters torch but potentially not all) but I wouldn't rule out the 2 57/3s receiving bids of some sort from both WCRC and LSL (the latter firm having had an interest in 57s for some time if any ever came up for grabs) simply because an opportunity at the right price could help secure adequate traction for either company longer term. If they weren't used simply for spares it would probably be at least a year then before either reappeared in anger and probably via spares obtained from a mix of other scrap locos and ordered in parts. LSL would send them to Eastleigh for the full costly works treatment. WCRC would probably do the work in house but otherwise may use a contractor such as Nemesis in Burton who now do some of the major work on 47s when capacity doesn't allow completion in house. Considering the state of some of the EWS 47s pulled off the likes of Healey Mills scrapline and made good over the last decade or so these 57/3s are far from a lost cause even if they would be to your average railway operator (namely the likes of DRS and ROG).

Useful for parts with his current fleet although many might be better than some of what he already has. Plus I'd say there may be a bit of a temporary resurgence in use for diesels during the HS2 construction phase later in the decade. Even if newer traction was used on it there may still be holes left elsewhere that can be filled. Speculation at this stage.

20302 and 20305 are in fully working order, so very much far from a trip to the scrapman

They are overdue major works. Whoever buys them will have to spend a decent amount to run them

== Doublepost prevention - post automatically merged: ==

20s are basically chicken sheds. Good for parts, not for service.

57s are the ones that are in quite poor condition (I understand).

Other stuff probably off to the scrap man.

It’s important to remember the UK taxpayer is funding this outfit and therefore they need to make sure they get every penny back for us. Even if we have to watch it get scrapped.

Companies house last years accounts won't please you.

Thanks for the list, had forgotten DRS had some DVTs, did they ever get used?

Struggling to remember them ever turning a wheel. Think they may have only been procured in the times when they were weighing up more passenger and charter options. Don't remember them out though as I think they retain previous liveries.

The first of the /4s? I wonder which way that could go, over to Pres or another mainline TOC eg, LSL.

I'll be surprised if LSL don't at least bid knowing who their managing director is and the fact it can heat shorter trains or almost a full mk1 rake so would be handy for an occasional job with one of the others bolted on if needs be. There's a few directors specials it would no doubt work.

What condition is 37405 in?
If the date on this photo is anything to go by, it should be in reasonably good condition and is a runner.

Cancel, I can’t seem to find any further photos of that move - so perhaps it’s last use was 2019?

No records after 2019 on the Class 37 gen site.

The usual reason at DRS for their choice of which ones to store or get rid of first is almost always high engine hours and due major exam. With the exception of when there are other major issues such as tyres or power unit.

The long stored 37606 has appeared in the COTS pool today - a permanent move I presume?

They look great on Flickr, they would look even better hauling an HS2 set ..........
Class 20s have only really been used to haul S Stock from/to Derby. Not mainline stock.

Appears this is in private ownership but said owner has leased another loco to Colas already and that is possibly the outcome for 606, hence it's arrival into the COTS pool

40013 and 37703 went from Crewe to Barrow Hill, collected 20312, 20308 and 20309 and continued to HNRC at Worksop yesterday.
