RIP Jethro.

Here's a marvellous joke made better by an all-time great telling it.

Billy Connolly tells the signalman joke:

He's the second of the three brothers to die, older brother Les Rowe having died a few months ago which made front page news in Penzance with streets closed off for funeral procession. Met Jethro's wife in a wood a few years back, both of us walking dogs I hasten to add, and it was about twenty minutes into our conversation before she happened to mention she was on a caravan park holiday with her 'comedian husband.' It was only after she mentioned other aspects of their absolutely unstarry life that I queried if he was Jethro, which she confirmed. I just said that one of his brothers (the third one) had been my chimney sweep when I'd lived a couple of miles from the wood.

A few of us met him in the petrol station at Gordano services near Bristol in about 1992. He was on his way home after doing a gig and so were we with my friends band.
He was lovely. RIP Jethro, make they buccers laff up there!

I never got to meet him, but he was my late brother-in-law's favourite comedian and he went to his stage show every time Jethro was in London.

When I first read the OP I had no idea who Jethro was, but now I've heard an item on the radio news.

Well I never knew his real name was Geoff Rowe. Every day’s a school day and all that

Yes, I saw that too.
I wonder if he was in a situation where someone asked him his real name- “Geoff Rowe” , “Yes I know you are Jethro, Jethro what?” And so on.

That’s why Seabrooks Crisps are so named. Founder was a Mr C Brook, who gave that name when dropping a film off to be developed, but when he went to collect it discovered the shop had written his name down as Seabrook
