Curious to know if 10 car Azumas have two guards or just one that goes between the train sets when the train stops in a station?

One Train manager, and a senior host in the other set.
Add also that revenue protection officers also travel on the portion where the Train Manager isn't.

Interesting because I caught a train from Kings Cross to Wakefield in the evening and there was no ticket check.

On other LNER services I've seen one person check tickets, followed later in the journey by a different person, though there was no crew change I think.

Interesting here as well, as my 10-car set down to London this morning had an announcement that a full ticket check would take place. Not in coach B it didn't. There were no reservations either, but that's a different story.

The guard can say what they like, but if the Host in the other end is busy with their actual job, they're not going to waste time messing about with tickets.

Do the hosts carry out full revenue duties, i.e. check and sell in first and standard?

Unheard of in the recent past for there not to be a ticket check from Kings Cross although it seems to happen more often now.

Since the demise of Virgin I've used ECML maybe 8-10 times between Leeds and London. Looking back I can't remember having a ticket check in either direction whether old stock, Azuma 9 or Azuma 10.

In pre LNER days there were always numerous announcements before leaving about restrictions with Advance tickets etc and on more than one occasion full train ticket checks took place quickly between Leeds and Wakefield. The guard would then sometimes offer any passengers who shouldn't have been on the service the opportunity to alight at Wakefield.

Yet I've used them leaving London about 50 times this year, full ticket check on every occasion leaving London, and then numerous checks on route.

I would say that it's more unusual not to have a ticket inspection at some point, whatever the set. We'd only just left Kings Cross this lunchtime when it started on a 9-car Azuma (I'd Seatfrogged into First), first stop Stevenage. By-the-by: we also had an announcement that you should wear a mask unless for medical reasons, but that the rule wouldn't be enforced. Everyone I saw was wearing one, compared with the Underground yesterday where most people weren't.
