Youtube and stolen video?

I'm just wondering if anyone knows what to do when someone has stolen video on youtube, in this case someone has uploaded my own videos that I originally uploaded to google videos 5 years ago. (They aren't the best since they were my first videos and obviously aren't anywhere near as good as the more recent ones that I've added to youtube. I thought that I would be polite and ask him why he has added these videos and claimed them as his own - his response - "i cant say it was you " and then blocked me so I can't reply to him... so now I have to report him to youtube but I'm not sure how!

(Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen to them?)

(the links are in order, the first link on youtube is the same as the first link for the google ones!)

If you can prove the videos belong to you then fill out the following form:

If you have a case, the youtube staff will remove the videos and then take appropriate action.

Thats the thing really, I have the original files but would that be enough for them since I have a feeling that won't really count as proof though!

Yours a clearly date-stamped and I don't see an issue, the second videos are dated 2009.

I had a few wmv files of the railway taken off the website and put on Youtube
bit rude especially as they didnt acknowledge
I contact them and ask them to at least put the website link up!!

I don't know if it would help, or if people can remove or edit videos but I have seen in some cases people add a small 'copyright' logo with the name of the user and place it to the side of the screen in small letters.

I have seen some youtube members use the idea, although I don't know if its a solution.

The videos have been removed, thanks for all your help . I think that I'm going to take your advice with the names on the video though! I've also uploaded all of the old videos on to youtube now - well in the process of doing that! (with my name on all of them this time!) They might not be the best videos but I thought that I might as well so that hopefully it won't happen again (even with them still on google videos)

Yeah they are quick, they've had quite a problem with people and copyright and it hasn't always ended the best way.

I have a feeling that it could be because my google account is connected to the same email address as my youtube account perhaps and google owns youtube? I couldn't believe how quickly that it was done myself!

It can be reported on the second (i.e. not yours) video by clicking 'Report' under the video, and selecting reasons etc thereof, you can get them removed if serious enough: I have done that on occasion.

That is a longer process and really only counts to those that are vulgar, a danger to users, or something along those lines. The links provided above go to the legal team.

I had this happen on a couple of links. I simply contacted the chaps and requested that they give full credit and a link to my web site where the videos originated and they did so.

By writing this request in their comments section it left them little choice. I didn't mind them using the video links as it increased the number of clicks.
