I've been keeping an eye on the Avanti website for advance tickets for London-Manchester return on 11/12 Dec (weekend) since mid-September, but nothing has come up at all. Checking again today on the Avanti app, it appears that there are no advances available northbound at any time on Sat 11th - is this correct, or have they just not released them yet? Do Avanti provide any fare alerts in the way that LNER do - if so, I can't find it!

Hi, Yesterday I managed to get an AWC Advance for Saturday 11th December, Nuneaton to London at 06.59 and return on the 17:07 London Euston to Nuneaton. So some advances are around it does take a bit of luck and good fortune. As regards notifications I use Trainline Ticket alert, there are boxes to fill in for email, date of travel and journey and as soon as advance tickets are released you get an email. I just copied this from the same page, it gives dates currently for each TOC that tickets are released for.

Even on Trainsplit, all I can see are £94.50 off peak returns. This is looking at Sat am northbound, Sun pm southbound.
Well I agree with that one, but you didn't specify a time in the first post. Just anytime.
I can get advances to show up for the PM on the Saturday.

If after a cheaper way to reach Manchester from London and don't mind the longer journey time, then there is a £45 off-peak return ticket valid only for London Northwestern & TfW Rail services. [There is also a £35 Super Off-peak return ticket, but that isn't valid until the 10:46 departure from London)
(I know coming back south on a Sunday it gives you 1 hour 5 minutes at Crewe due to the connection time between the Manchester - Shrewsbury train & Crewe - London train being below minimum, but in general if the TfW service is on time into Crewe, the connection is easily made as it's normally crossplatform from platform 6 to platform 7)

Oddly, Avanti West Coast have released advance tickets for Monday 17th January to Thursday 20th January 2022 out of sequence as earlier Monday to Friday dates in January are yet to be released. Got a couple of advances Nuneaton to Euston and return this evening for Wednesday 19th January

Never mind advance tickets, all dates from 4 to 16 January inclusive are "greyed out" on Avanti's and other booking websites if you want to book any ticket on Avanti's network.
You simply can't progress a booking because the date selection is the first step.

Looks like engineering works? RTT for Tuesday 4th January and also 12th January shows trains leaving Euston 20 minutes earlier than usual and everything going via Northampton. E.g. The Glasgow departure is at xx.09 instead of xx.30.

Useless **** need to sort out their website. If a date is greyed out it gives the impression that no trains will run that day hence no tickets are for sale.
I am also looking at travelling to Manchester and Liverpool in the near future and cannot find any reasonably priced advance tickets. The £35 return is fantastic value. However, coming from Kent, the xx:46 departure from Euston connects very badly. A 3 hour journey becomes 5 hours, not ideal when making a day trip. Even Cross Country is looking an attractive option at this point.

I’m using Avanti from Preston - Glasgow Friday January 14th and returning on the 16th Avanti FB team say that advance tickets haven’t been released for the dates I want to travel yet

Nothing on the National Rail “future engineering works” section about this though, or the many weekends in Jan and Feb where Avanti also has greyed out dates. Perhaps it’s all still not definite.
I’ve sent a query to Avanti; will report back when I hear anything.
