There been alot said about the 300, and the buses on it recently!
Was there any problems, when the service was in the hands of Bristol VRT's from FAO-V, & KRM-W batches?
I've personally found it worse since the Scania's started on it. Volvo Oly's did run late, but never as late as the Scania's, or run late as often as these Scania's do! Over the past few weeks, I've used the 300 quite a bit to get to uni, and not once has it been on time. Even before all of this snow and ice, it was never on time. On the 1035 departure to Carlisle from Workington, the earliest the bus has departed has been 1042. On the odd occasion, the bus has been in before 1035, with the driver not coming out of the rest room until 1036, but most of the time, the bus is just getting in after departure times.
Its lucky there's no longer a clock in the bus station for passengers to look at (can see where the old one was, mounted from the roof supports), it would just cause a hell of a lot of complaints about time-keeping!
When the only options for me travelling to uni is a poor service with Northern Fail (cold, scruffy trains, very poor timings. £8.20 return, often have to stand on way home), the 300 (Scania's, with Volvo Oly's making frequent appearances. £8.55 return, can get a seat) running hourly, but often late, or car (£8 petrol + £3.20 car park), I just have to suffer with late running!
After christmas though, it'll be train all the way! Bus timetables don't suit lecture times.
