Im thinking of visiting Shrewsbury in the new year, please can anyone tell me if i stay there from 11 - 4 roughly how many different class 158 units should i see (when i say how many different 158's i mean as in the set numbers).

Also is it still a 153 on the Shrewsbury - Crewe, and a 153 on the arrival from Cardiff via H.O.W line, which returns to Swansea via H.O.W line around 14:05?

Also are the following services still booked for the following units:

Blaenau Ffest - Llandudno = class 150
Crewe - Chester = class 150 or class 158
Wrexham - Bidston = 2x class 150.

Dont think you#ll see many 158s

The only run is going to be, likely, the Holyhead to S.O.W but you are looking for pot luck, either a 175 Coradia or the double length 158 sprinters.

The only guaranteed route is going to be the Holyhead to Birmingham International services but they run every hour

The aberystwyth services are 158s - 2 units operate Birmingham-shrewsbury-Machynlleth where they split, one for Aber & the other up the coast.

WSMR southbound service will be at 14:07

No more 153s on the Shrewsbury to Crewe services - haven't seen one for a few months now. The last time I saw one was a strange combination of two 153s with a 158 in the middle!

Where did the 153s go? I'm delighted by the extra capacity which has come from their removal, but have they been redistributed or completely withdrawn?

You're guaranteed to see at least 3/4 158's an hour on the Aberystwyth/Holyhead to International runs.
The South Wales runs are booked 175's and the H.o.W can turn up any of the 150/153 variety!

153's turn up more on the Valleys services now in Cardiff but can turn up on the Crewe's (as today showed) and the HoW today which formed the last train to Chester in the form of 153367!
