Yes, I admit that life insurance is slightly different.
Getting off-topic, I guess, but I remember back in 1996 when I bought a flat in Manchester with a high percentage mortgage I was required to take out a life insurance policy, which annoyed me because I was single with no dependents and had a company scheme which would have paid out enough.
After a couple of years property prices went up and I shopped around for a replacement mortgage which didn't "waste" my money on payments for life insurance I didn't want.
So, back to adverts, to a large extent I guess they're trying to persuade you to buy life insurance when you don't necessarily need it, and trying to appeal to your sentiments in a way that makes you think you do need it. For sure, people would have been sad if I'd died when I was younger in Manchester, but nobody would have been out of pocket because of it.
So I've always taken a cynical approach to insurance, and therefore to the multitude of advertisements for it.
