Arriva First and Stagecoach in the same street.

New challenge for you all. Outwith London, Manchester, and Glasgow, which are the most obvious examples, does anyone know of any streets, or towns and/or villages, where you can find buses of Stagecoach, Arriva, and First, in the same place.

The rules are that National Express, Megabus, Scottish Citylink, and Greyhound workings are ruled out. School contracts and regular private hires are ruled out as well. The service must be a normal stage carriage service, even if it only runs once a day or once a week. And it must be the same street, not neccassirly the same bus stop.

To get you started, Carlisle City Centre. Stagecoach is the main operator in Carlisle, and both Stagecoach Cumbria and Arriva North East jointly run the 685. First also visits Carlisle on the 95 from Edinburgh and Galashiels.

So remember the rules, not long distance coach servies like Nat Ex, Scottish Citylink, Megabus, or Greyhound. Must be the same street or town, if possible, and also normal stage carriage. The frequency is irrelevant.

Ah yes, since Stagecoach took ovr Yorkshire Traction it'll be rather more common (although First don't get as South as a lot of them).

I don't think there are that many places in West Yorkshire where the three operators meet. It was common at Huddersfield after the Yorkshire traction take over by Stagecoach but now Centrebus have taken over the Huddersfield services. Other then that all I can think off is Leeds. I could be mistaken though.

North West locations that have all three operators, I can think of Bolton, Wigan and Liverpool.

Doncaster sees all three since Stagecoach's purchase of Yorkshire Traction.

Camberley has Stagecoach as the major local operator with First coming in from Bracknell and Arriva from Guildford and Woking.

Bus stations do count. I think Cardiff is another location, as I'm sure Arriva runs a trans cambria service. You also have the beauty of two municipal operators!

At Stockport First work some route 22 journeys alongside Stagecoach, while Arriva operate local routes 380, 381 and 386 and also route 370 on Mon-Sat evenings. At about 7pm you can travel east on Stagecoach and see westbound buses run by Arriva.

Also in Romford, all buses are Stagecoach, First or Arriva apart perhaps from some school services.

All trains serving Reading are First GW, Stagecoach SWT and Arriva XC!

Admittedly the First services are only the links to Chester and Heswall but they still count, and Arriva and Stagecoach abound.

Meadowhall Interchange to Sheffield Interchange used to be do-able by First (Mainline - various services), Stagecoach (the 909 from Hull or the 747 to Nottingham), Arriva (the X33 from Bradford) and Yorkshire Traction (the X32 from Leeds).

At the time, that was four of the "big five" bus groups (apart from Go-Ahead).

Now, Stagecoach run Yorkshire Traction, but run no buses from Meadowhall into Sheffield - the Megabus is the only Stagecoach bus at Meadowhall), Arriva cut their X33 away, meaning First are the only big company running between the two (there is now a tendered Veolia route between the two, plus a handful of TrentBarton - TM Travel - buses a week on another tendered route...)

And Stagecoach run the 69s evening/Sundays, IIRC? I wonder when Tates Travel will start running their B10Ms along there .

We do have Arriva, FirstBus and Stagecoach running on the same road from Sunny Bar to Doncaster, and Bentley to Doncaster; however, First are clearly the dominant (anticompetitive) operator.

Birmingham is served by several Megabus services to London from "The Priory, Queensway", one of which is branded as Scottish Citylink and one of which comes from Leeds.
