"Collect at destination" West Ham LU poster

Apologies for not grabbing a picture, was in a hurry...
Amazed this morning when passing through West Ham whilst changing trains to see an LU poster positioned by the staircase leading up to the C2C platforms stating that National Rail tickets cannot be collected at the station and to travel to your destination and collect them there...

Sorry, I should have stated in my original post for those not familar.
West Ham is operated by London Underground and only has their ticket machines from which you can buy tickets to a limited amount of National Rail destinations but from which you cannot collect pre-booked NR tickets.
This poster looked like a permanent fixture.
The idea that you can jump on a C2C train with no ticket just a booking confirmation and collect at the destination seems remarkable to me unless there is some special arrangement if challenged?

It isn't that remarkable. It used to be the norm for some routes because it allowed the company to take the custom from people who wanted to book online without going to the expense of installing ticket machines. For example it was common for people boarding at stations between Barnstaple and Exeter St Davids who had booked online. Etickets have largely made the practice redundant however.

I have no idea if there's a specific situation at West Ham, but are you certain that the ticket machines don't offer ticket on departure? Many London Underground stations do, such as Gunnersbury or Harrow & Wealdstone.

Overground stations offer ticket on departure but underground do not.

Most (or maybe all) London Overground managed stations do offer ticket on departure, but Gunnersbury and Harrow & Wealdstone are managed by London Underground.
