Controlling London Underground Strike

Hey

Pretend you are incharge of trying to maintain enough services through a strike. Now the aim of the game is to require the least number of lines/sections open however still provide a link for computers to get into London We assume that these people only want to travel into london for work reasons. What parts would you close, remember customer could use mainline rail or buses

Here are my thoughts

Met: Service between Chesham- Chalfont, Watford-Wembley park, Uxbridge-Harrow on Hill. Use Chiltern between Amersham-Harrow/Marylebone. Use Jubilee+ Hammer between Wembley-Aldgate
Jubliee-Stanmore to Baker Street. Stratford-Waterloo
Pic- Rayners Lane to Ealing Common, Heathrow to Acton, South Ken to Cockfosters
No Circle Line
Hammersmith- Hammersmith to Aldgate East
Northern- Full service
Victoria- Full Service
Central Line- Full Service
District- Full Service
Bakerloo- Queens Park to Regents Park. Use other lines/ Overground

Can anyone else beat me, with the above service?

Give reasons if you close a section, you have to give the alternatives


As well as the above game, if you were controlling the strike(Assume that drivers can work on any line) what lines would you keep running/ what sections do you believe are most important?

Nice try, but Chiltern aren't allowed to stop at Moor Park without a member of LU staff present to dispatch them. Quite why this is I don't know, given the platforms are perfectly straight!

Hi

With my scenario, it wouldn't matter at Moor Park. Any Moor Park passengers can just use Watford branch to Wembley+Jubilee or chiltern from Harrow.(Just edited post to correct)

I've just notice there is no way to get to Aldgate....

Surely Aldgate is easily walkable from the bits you have kept open?

The only think I can think of that would require less open than your scenario is that you wouldn't really need the CX branch of the Northern Line open would you? Everything it serves is covered by other lines so shutting that sector would give you more resources ffor the other bits.

So:
you're assuming just station staff striking yes?

The assumption "drivers can work on any line" is very, very unrealistic- they're restricted by stock and line knowledge.

And Rickmansworth would have a 2 hour gap in the evening peak between the 1727 and 1925 off Marylebone. I suppose the 1851 could have an additional call there, as it's only 4 cars. Some of the additionals that are fast to Amersham or Great Missenden are shorter, so they could also fit in the platform at RIC, I suppose.

I wouldn't like to see the overcrowding with the above service provision, mind.

Anyone fancy a journey from Ricky to Moor Park, via Harrow and all halts via the slow line?

Aldgate's easy- walk from Aldgate East.

I wouldnt want to be real or pretend to break any strike, whether i agree with it or not.
Just my opionion.

Didn't the Hammersmith and City Line actually end up going to Aldgate? That was what I saw on the TfL website (unless they meant to type Aldgate East)

This is mine - was in London for the strike so i have an idea of what it was like.

Met - Wembley Park to Aldgate (Jubilee line from Wembley Park to Central London and H+C line from Baker St to Aldgate)
Jubilee - Wembley Park to Stanmore
Picc - Wood Green to Cockfosters and Acton Town to Uxbridge (Met line to Uxbridge)
Circle - No service
H+C - Aldgate to Barking
Northern - Normal Service
Victoria - Seven Sisters to Walt'stow Ctl
Central - White City to Ealing B'dway and Hainault to Woodford
District - Earls Court to Olympia and Turnham Green to Richmond
Bakerloo - Queens Park - Harrow and W'stone
W+C - Normal service

Just my opinion on what it should be, others would think differently.

And the H+C line went to Moorgate on Monday.
