Hi all
I'm going to be roaming around the midlands / north from October 10th for a week. Other than York & Shildon, are there any must visit attractions or may open days that anyone knows of?
It looks as if Crewe HC has an event on the 16th but they tell me it's only for the beer festival. I can't see an event at Ruddington.
Any tips gratefully recieved :)

GCR will be operating at the weekends and may be Wed, but the website only gives dates up to Oct 9th (Bus Rally at Quorn) so far.

Ride the Settle-Carlisle and Newcastle-Carlisle lines for the beginning of the Autumn colours. Depending on where you are staying, you could cover both in one day with a 'Round Robin' ticket and possibly even tie-in the KWVR beer and music festival in the evening.

If at Crewe pop over to Chester or Shrewsbury to try the tfW loco hauled service between Chester and Shrewsbury or venture south to Hereford on it, a very scenic route.

Crewe Rail Ale Festival is October 8-10th, so if there's something on the 16th, it's something else
aah yes sorry, typo. I'm in Crewe on the 9th and was hoping to visit but not for beer!

You MUST visit Derbyshire's favourite railway! www.e-v-r.com

Even connections with EMR's Matlock service at Duffield!

That would be an excellent visit - sadly I'm in that area on a weekday and they're only running weekends in Oct. Noted for the future though thank you :)

Thank you - I have Ribblehead pencilled in for the 13th. Sadly it doesnit look as if anything exciting will be crossing that day
