Hello all,

Please move if necessary to traction and rolling stock but this is more to do with Thameslino diagrams as well as 387 diagrams.

In the 2016 Carriage Working Notice (CWN), most Thameslink turns are 387s with the odd 700 turn, and Gatwick Express (GatEx) are 387/2s with some 442s (which appear also working peak Brighton extensions).

The 2016 CWN is from May 2016, and the previous CWN is from March 2015, listing some 319s to Brighton or Three Bridges, but in 2016 the 319s appear to be purely on Sutton rounders.

There is a gap missing that I'm trying to fill, that's information between the two published CWNs, because looking at research pictures on Flickr there seems to be some unbranded GatEx 387/2's paired with Thameslink 387/1's on Bedford Brightons in early 2016, before they started on GatEx services, which I can gather they started running on the Gatwicks in May?

I'm led to believe the 387/2's were on Thameslink services as the 700's were not yet in service, did some 319's appear on Brighton Bedford services as well?

I've seen one picture in February 2016, which is noted in the May 2016 CWN as a class 700 turn, being worked by 377503 and ex-Southern 377213. I assume later in 2016 the 377/5's and ex Southern 377/2's had finished?

Any help is most appreciated!

James

I can’t remember dates, but there was certainly a time just before the 700s arrived when Red 387s were on Bedford - Brighton runs. IIRC there were only 6 of them in circuit. I can’t remember when the 319s finished the Brighton turns, but suspect it was not unusual to see one turning up.

387201/202/203/206/222/223 operated for Thameslink - my first ride on one was in February 2016, my last in July 2016.

319s continued on certain Thameslink diagrams to Brighton for some time - finishing in August 2017 but there were only a limited number of these during the period the 377/387 fleet was at full strength. I was quite surprised to have a 4-car 319 on a Three Bridges to Bedford working on a Sunday in April 2017.

The first 700s (eg 700101-700115) largely replaced the handful of 12-car 377/387 workings. Then the major switch over of 8-car diagrams with the arrival of 700001-700046.

Final 387s on Thameslink in February 2017 - https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/class-387.92831/page-152#post-2877562. The 377s finished later in 2017 although some had gone to Southern by the same time https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/thameslink-class-700-progress.92632/page-231#post-2881506 and https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/class-377-5-southeastern.151292/page-5#post-3119202

They as in the Class 387/2s also worked to Sevenoaks too for a period of time as well as on the Bedford to Brightons.
