Went there today more or less accidentally to discover there was a gala on. It's still on this Sunday should anyone be able to get to it and not have plans. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff too, particularly enjoyed the engine shed tour with just me and my wife. Narrow gauge isn't normally my thing but the collection there is so extensive that it's fascinating, and I do enjoy the occasional bit of narrow gauge.

Am not especially impressed with their waxwork figurine though :lol:

For those of us who are not familiar with their waxwork figurine (I last visited in 1990 when I lived and worked in Aylesbury, but thoroughly enjoyed the experience), could you please elucidate?....or would that be a breach of copyright/health and safety/GDPR/Sex Discrimination legislation, etc?

There is a mini-exhibition on the trench railways at Stonehenge Works which includes a figurine - it's more Louis Tussaud than Madame Tussauds :lol:

This is not to detract from the place at all btw, you don't go to a heritage railway to look at waxworks - I found said mannequin quite charming if anything. I also enjoyed, whilst in the gents, eavesdropping on the guard training another young lad* who had ridden with us in the correct operation of the septic tank sensor.

It is these oddities which make us British, I think :D

*Am I allowed to say "young lad"? I'm 34 and my wife's 29...
