I'm wanting to travel Aberystwyth to Wallasey Grove Road on 28 December, returning on the 29th, in both cases leaving sometime in the morning. The off-peak return is £47.60 (I don't have the benefit of any railcard). Does anyone have any good ideas for any splits etc.?

Thanks!

For singles you can catch the-
11.30 from AYW for £18
Then the next day catch the-
9.12 from WLG for £18
So = £36 a bit of a saving
Dont know much about splitting sorry.

Where are you being offered these fares, Sun!? Neither East Coast nor ATW are offering me Advance fares for this journey on the OP's dates.

If I remember correctly, I once looked for a friend at singles from Milton Keynes to Aberystwyth and splitting it at Birmingham made a bit of a difference but for returns the difference was less.

It may be worth looking at major stations and splitting there (Wolverhampton in this case and possibly Lime Street as well)

I usually tend to get busy on the National Rail site and look for them this way, although it can be quite a bit of effort to do!

Splitting at Chester or Capenhurst will save some money - particularly if you need to take a bus, train or ferry once in Merseyside.
(£33.40 + 2* £4) or 2*£4.50 for saveaways.

That may be slower than going via Liverpool, depending on connections.
(Upton saves a bit more but has even fewer connections)
