At first I thought it was a tube, then looked again and then noticed it was Overground on the roundall.

Intriguing- wonder if they're testing down to Moorgate? Or was it a 172?

Big obvious colourscheme difference between Underground and Overground- the cab side and ends are red on the Underground, but yellow on the Overground. Very, very obvious!

There are some London Overground 313s at Hornsey, maybe the OP saw one of these?

Believe me if there were 378s at Hornsey then I would certainly would have heard of them being there.

I had an e-mail at home yesterday saying a 378 was going up to Hornsey but not sure why. Tyre turning maybe?

It wasn't a 313 for sure, it was half sticking out of the shed, i did a 'double take' saw the London Overground roundel thought it was a London Underground one and looked back.

This was at 13:18 today.

Yes it seems there IS a Class 378 at Hornsey as it arrived on Saturday, however I don't know what it's doing there but have asked around to try and find out.

It's 378 210.

The return to Willesden is early tomorrow ( I think 06.30 off Hornsey - excluding any last minute variation! ) and it runs via Finsbury Park and Primrose Hill, so interesting photo opportunities there for anyone who is in the area.

Yes I can confirm it was 378210 which was there for tyre turning, note it is the second 378 to visit Hornsey, the first being 378005 but a long time ago.

Is that the one that popped down to Moorgate?

It probably is, I know a 378 has been down there and 005 is the only other 378 to have visited Hornsey so is totally plausible that it was the unit.
