If they’re on the tour today and feeling fit to continue the tour (even if not 100%), +1 for those being sceptical that it’s Norovirus, which really knocks you out for 24-48 hours in most cases… (and not just in the ‘bad hangover’ sense)

Does the passenger stock have opening vents? Are folks wearing masks? Pity the stewards on toilet cleaning duties....

Well I had it at Carlisle, I’m 46 and not had a drop of drink as I’m a tee totaller !
Bad luck hope you're feeling better now and enjoying the scenic Oban to Crianlarich run.

I see there are plenty of YouTube videos covering this tour, from which I see a set of Mk1s so plenty of fresh air, and a slow trundle through Argyll Street showed a good many masks in evidence. But did the lights fail in some carriages?

Return from Oban no longer calling Edinburgh and Newcastle, going direct to Carlisle so no class 60 haulage.

I have to say I'm not the biggest fan of the promised "extra on the day surprises" ;)

Out of interest will this mark the first passenger working of a 91 over the third side of the junction at Carstairs? As far as I know all previous workings of 91s on the West Coast from Scotland have been from (or run via) Edinburgh?

Well I'm very happy. I was not looking forward to the very late arrival into Carlisle and the 60 haulage does nothing for me.

I wanted the run to Oban (would have preferred the 33+20s combo but 37s are good too) and the 91 hauling Mk1s on a Railtour. So I'm still getting what I wanted.

But obviously commiserations to those who are missing out on the bits they wanted and to GBRf who are doing their best and keep having things go wrong.

I’m still unclear as to why we are not continuing as planned.

I have seen some “ill” people but there are 397 punters on the train.

we knew it was going to be a late one

Very much agreed. I have seen nothing personally, and have only heard of a few people being sick. Why not send them home on a service train? Unless they are going to make use of the extra time in Carlisle to allow a proper clean of the stock ready for the final day.

Probably because the volunteer stewards need a break after having to deal with unforeseen issues overnight when they may have expected to have some rest.

On the tannoy the reasoning given was "to give everyone a longer break" so that may well be part of it.

Some staff are sick, so need to rest. Some are already staying in Glasgow by the sounds of it.

If they don’t want it to spread, get everyone off quickly, do a deep clean, get the toilets filled, soap dispensers done, all that and get everyone back tomorrow much fresher.

As good a reason as any. Was hoping to catch up with it in Toon this evening. The day after the overnight leg and sickness hits. Sounds to me like a few enjoyed an extra drop or two. Doesnt make them bad prople though. I would Hate to think that causes the last day to be binned though.

Fair point albeit of little solace to us fee paying punters

they could have dropped us in Glasgow today and used to Oban portion to sort the train, recharge their batteries and sift out those that are “sick”

That is definitely not the case. I have the relevant assurances that tomorrow will go ahead. Not sure about the 69, however...

well there is definitely a rumour spreading to that effect.

It’s surely too early to say, if the number of cases goes up something will have to be done, if it sorts itself out all carries on you’d have thought.
