Hi Peeps..

Would someone be able to work a cheaper fare, than a £26.65 day return ticket to Christchurch.

Going Tommorow or Sunday with a YP ticket.

Departing from London.

In the Morning and coming back LTOD.

Thankies Neil

If you get the 07:35 out and the 21:20 train back you can get 2 singles at £9.90 and £6.60 respectively, according to EC website.

If money is no object, the £26.65 is far more flexible

Do you hold a Travelcard? Also I thought you would have a PRIV being rail staff? (or have you not been working for long enough to qualify?) Which station in London will you start your journey at?

Small saving can be made splitting at Basingstoke.

WAT-BSK CDR £12.00
BSK-CHR CDR £12.85

Total: £24.85

That takes out half the fast trains you can use though. Might be useful if the £2 is needed for something else though...

Which trains does it take out on a Saturday? The xx35 do not call at Christchurch which leaves the xx05 semi-fast or xx39 all shacks.

Sundays the only direct services to Christchurch from WAT are all shacks at xx54

I was thinking of the xx35 connecting into the Poole semifast at Brockenhurst, it non-stops Basingstoke. But you're right, there's only one through train.

Oh did it used to be the 200?

BTW I have done it from Littlehampton to Havent then to Brighton on the bus pass before the national usage of them and it was quite a slog to say the least - but it is free.

Did Pompey-Brighton on the 700 a few years ago. Cheap (£6.50 Explorer back then) but bum-numbingly long journey.

The Brighton to Portsmouth Bus is very slow. if youre that desperate I'd suggest:
London Victoria to Southampton Central cheap day return (southern trains only) £15.05
Southampton Central to Christchurch CDR £6.45 be aware that its a lot slower than SWT and doesnt work on sundays till the winter timetable as Southern dont serve Southampton till then

and yes I have a London Freedom Pass which would help to Clapham Junction I think on this Line?
Right, that's vital info if you want us to find the best deal ;)

Brighton - Christchurch Rte Not London Off Peak Day Return (CDR) £19.55 is valid via Clapham Jn and you can start/finish 'short' there.

Yorkie can you close this thread,? as ive decided to go to IOW and finding it tough to get cheap fares?
No, I can't as there is no valid reason for me to.

Many people find the threads here via a search engine. They may wish to do the journey described in this thread.

There is nothing in this thread that warrants it being locked.

I must say I am still a bit gobsmacked at how cheap these Brighton fares are from/to the Solent coast, even more so when I realised that it was a SWT, rather than SC, flow too.
