6LDA Group Preserving 26004 and 26024

Are you interested in joining the group that owns 26004 and 26024?

We are looking for likeminded individuals who have an interest in class 26's, either as an enthusiast that spotted or travelled on them, drivers lucky enough to have driven them or depot staff that maintained them.

Would you like to contribute towards the maintainenance of 26024 or the restoration of 26004? Both reside at Bo'ness on the Bo'ness and Kinneil Railway near Edinburgh.

We are midway through restoring all the bogies that we own. So that both 004 and 024 will run on on restored "as new" bogies. However 26004 needs a lot of work to restore it to running standards. This will need substantial amounts of money to be invested in its restoration.

If you wish to contribute monthly by standing order I can send a standing order form by email or post.

Anybody wishing to be a shareholder in 6LDA group can do so by buying shares in £20 or more in multiples of £20. A form can be sent by email or post.

Work on 26004 is progressing is well. However the bogie restoration requires extra funds for completion. Once the bogies are done then we can crack on with the task of making 26004 a runner again.

We are organising ONCE MONTHLY "Working Sundays", where new and old
6LDA members are invited to get their hands dirty by helping with the bogie restoration.
We are a friendly group. Most weekends you will find Stuart Sellar, Alasdair Cowan, John Howell applying elbow grease! Feel free to come along. If you are interested in participating,please contact me,(bkilgallon@blueyonder.co.uk) and I will make sure that one of the team will be there to meet you!

Restoration of a diesel is extremely costly!
WE NEED EXTRA FUNDS continue and complete 26004's restoration! So if there are any enthusiasts willing to help fund 26004 we would love to hear from you. If anyone wants to donate monthly please contact me Every little bit helps, from as little as £10 per month.

This doesn't really contribute...anything, but 26024 was the first (and sadly, only so far) Diesel loco I was behind! On a run from Bo'ness to Manuel, actually and was fun. Plenty of pics of her on my flickr.

Good diesel to start with! 6LDA group is a smallish group. You are welcome to join the 6LDA yahoo group. You are certainly more than welcome to upload your pictures to the group. However I think you have to join the 6LDA yahoo group first to upload pics (not the actual 6LDA group itself).

26024 has been in fine form this year. Looking through my haulage logs I note that I only had 26024 twice in British Rail. The Haymarket 26's were much harder for me as I tended to concentrate on Inverness 26's.

Any enthusiast can contribute to the restoration of 26004 and 26024 by going on "easyfundraising" and searching out the good cause of "6LDA" or 6LDA (Preserving 26004 and 26024)". It works like this: Wish to buy something online? Go to "easyfundraising" site, enter your details once, select 6LDA Group, click onto whichever site to buy your goods. When completed a small percentage goes to 6LDA. The cost of the goods is the same price to yourself.

My dad (Stuart Sellar) is already a member of 6LDA and we both go along to help at the SRPS Diesel Group every Sunday. Right now we're working on 37403 and when it's done hopefully we'll start works on the Sulzer type 2s! I'm obsessed with Sulzer type 2s and 37s are just a pain lol. Anyone else from SRPS here? I'm new to the forum.

Excellent Callum. Top man. Yes I am the Treasurer, Brendan. I met you after the 6LDA meeting this year.

The AGM went very well. We had 7 members attending which for us was a big improvement on last year.

Whilst fund levels are reasonable, we have a mountain to climb regarding the restoration of 26004. One of the wheelsets is in scrap condition so we will have to restore our spare class 26 bogie which will mean extra costs.
