Railcards with rover tickets

Just a quick question:
Can I use a family and friends railcard on a rail rover day ticket.
I went to buy a Derbyshire Wayferer ticket on Monday and they said I coundnt use it.

Although on northern website it states for the south penines day ranger you can. But on National rail webstite it says you cant?

I was thinking of going on east midlands day ranger (1 adult 1 child)

I've been issued a 'concession' priced Derbyshire Wayfarer once at Derby station on production of my railcard. Every other time I've been told it can't be done.

I think ones for purely rail travel are with railcard discounts, ones with multi types of transport e.g. Bus + Train they don't include railcard discounts.

Certainly the case on the East Lancashire Day Ranger and the Derbyshire Wayfarer.

Nope.

Par exemple

Freedom of Scotland Travelpass (Rail, Ferry, Coach) - Railcard Discount

Ride Cornwall (Rail and Bus) - Railcard Discount

The discount is not neccessarily 34%

This is not the case, Anglia Plus is also valid on buses also. This offers RC Discounts

Correct. The only discounts available with a Wayfarer are for Children, Senior Citizens (anyone aged over 60), B-line (Derbyshire Student card) and Derbyshire Concessionary Pass holders, who all get a 50% discount.

The Manual says Child, Senior, 16-25 and Disabled Railcard holders get a discount on the South Pennines Day Ranger, as do Family and Friends Railcard holders providing the usual Railcard conditions are met (i.e. at least one Adult and one Child travelling).

The Manual isn't entirely clear (the entry hasn't been updated, other than pricing, since the last printed edition of the NFMs), but it suggests that a Family and Friends discount isn't available, as they already offer a Family ticket for up to two adults and four children, costing the same as two Adult tickets.

I have spent the week using the exelent Highlands Rover also allowing use on the coach between Inverness and Fort William and a couple of ferry services - all for £48.80 on my railcard.

The point about Derbyshire Wayfarer tickets is that they are a Derbyshire County Council product, available all day on buses and after 9 am (mon- on trains. They can be purchased in 3 ways - from stations in the area for use on that day only; in advance (scratch off date) from TICs etc in Derbyshire; or from most bus companies' drivers on routes in Derbyshire. Therefore Railcards would be a problem as only station booking clerks would know the rules. Clearly a Senior Railcard or a Bus Pass would serve as proof of age to allow purchase of the Concessionary Wayfarer. A Family Wayfarer exist anyway I believe.

You can't use a family railcard to buy a wayfarer but (a) the standard wayfarer covers one adult plus one child (not just the one adult) and (b) there is a "group" wayfarer ticket that covers up to 2 adults and 3 children for about one and two-thirds the price of the basic one. In fact for two adults travelling together between Derby and Chesterfield or Sheffield a group wayfarer is significantly cheaper than two CDRs.
