Couldn’t see a thread about this, just a bit of a clearing-house for members to post any information about model railway shows going ahead (or not).

At the moment Thornbury & South Glos Club are planning to go ahead with their show at The Chantry in Thornbury at the end of November. Current thinking is that tickets will only be available in advance via online purchase, in order to keep some kind of handle on numbers of attendees. Obviously if the national situation changes then these plans will be reviewed.

There are strong rumours locally that the big Bristol show (normally held in Thornbury Leisure Centre over the Mayday bank holiday weekend) won’t be going ahead next year. The cancellation of both the 2020 and 2021 shows have apparently left funds seriously depleted.

A good idea for a thread - thanks for posting. It's great to hear that some model exhibitions are going ahead. Even with some restrictions/changes in place, I'd argue it's better to have them take place than not!

Some model railway exhibitions this weekend (7/8 August) and in subsequent weeks.
See: https://www.ukmodelshops.co.uk/events/exhibitions
Thanks for posting that, a very useful link. Sadly showing a large number of (understandable) cancellations.

Checking the entry for the Thornbury club show, it is slightly out of date. I will chivvy things up with those concerned. I also wouldn’t recommend Chepstow as a railhead for Thornbury!

Yes, agreed. One thing humans excel at (though they may not like it at the time!) is adapting.

Personally I very much hope the Thornbury show goes ahead, I shall be part of a crew operating an N-gauge layout that hasn’t been out for some 8 years, though has had some testing and tidying up in recent weeks.

@Kremlin Stooge - The N gauge railway sounds interesting. What sort of era is it set in?
It’s a town terminus set in the early 1980’s. Lots of blue and grey, lots of weathering and a little bit of urban decay! Basically we set it in a period just before BR really got going on their cull of diesel classes through the mid- and late-80’s.

That sounds right up my street. Love a bit of 80s urban decay. ;)

We’re waiting to hear if a show that we’re booked into later in the year is definitely going ahead. Hopefully it will happen but it’s not a certainty.
It’ll be the first time we’ve exhibited my friends new railway which has been built specifically to take to shows.

Yes, that’s the thing, there’s still an awful lot of uncertainty around. I wouldn’t want to be an exhibition manager/organiser in the current climate.

Has anyone heard anything about Warley? The website says 2021 is going ahead but that was updated in February.

--1730 9th August --

Oh, never mind. It's just been cancelled.

So passports to prove you have been jabbed in England have been scrapped.I presume I will need one if the SEC show takes place in Glasgow in February and Perth in June.Unless all nations use common sense or are certain leaders just political point scoring adopting different rules

Yes, I’ve heard about the Stafford cancellation as well, a shame as I have found it to be a good quality show, well worth the journey. I’m also getting unconfirmed rumours that Southampton has been cancelled. On a more positive note, Bristol looks like it could happen after all (subject to wider government edicts), sponsorship has apparently been obtained from one of the magazine publishing groups.

Very disappointed that I missed the Wakefield exhibition - was planning to go on the 18th or 19th December but I tested positive the week before.

Did anybody visit during November or December?
