Hi all, wondering if I can ask for some fare advice, on Saturday I will be travelling Purley to Canons Park.....I am the holder of a London Zone 3-6 travel card which I can use at either end of my journey but wonder what ticket type I will need to use in zones 1 and 2 (I will be going to London bridge and using the jubilee line) any advice much appreciated. Thanks.

Is your Travelcard on paper or loaded to an Oyster card?

Do you have any Railcards or gold card?

Such is the premium for travel on paper tickets in London that you are better off not using your season ticket at all and using Oyster or contactless for your entire trip costing £5.80 single or £11.60 return. A paper ticket from Honor Oak Park (the last station of validity for your Travelcard) to Zones U123* Londn is £8.20 single and £13.40 return.

You can save modest amounts by alighting at the last station your Travelcard is valid at to touch in your Oyster and rejoin the same train, or by avoiding zone 1 and taking yourself to Clapham Junction and then onto the Overground to Brondesbury Park, a short distance from Willesden Green.

Others might be able to spot something I’ve missed though so stay tuned.

Thanks for the reply and info I believe contactless is the way to go just wondered if my travel card offered any benefit on the journey but seemingly not.

If this is something you might do again in the future, consider adding your Travelcard to an Oyster card from the next renewal as this would enable you to make the throughout journey using pay as you go credit for a somewhat smaller cost.

Whilst short, it's not an OSI so would trigger a new journey (albeit one that would just be covered by your travelcard). Brondesbury to Kilburn (next stations on each line) are an OSI so your journeys would be joined together.

As you say, the OP has a Travelcard for the section from Willesden Green so this wouldn’t matter.

I wasn't 100% certain that the advice included resuming the travelcard at Willesden Green. I also wanted to point out to other readers who might find the thread that using that interchange for PAYG would not join the journey as one.

If OP really wants to not pay a single penny, OP can try:
Go to Croydon and change for the tram to Wimbledon, then District Line to East Putney.
Change to Putney for Richmond and Overground to Harrow & Wealdstone.
Change for bus from Harrow & Wealdstone.

But that would take ages.
