Hopefully better than Stagecoach NE's MAN E200's.... slight change in gradient and they squeal down to a lower gear!! Very rocky and bouncy at high speeds too...39726 was terrible! i think its a good move by Reays choosing Dennis over MAN .... and also over the Primos!!!

20962 is on 50 as well.
non-accessible 34079 on Harrington, along with 47059.
so out of 6 low floor accessible buses needed for Workington Town Servies, only 1 of them can actually get a wheelchair on. Brilliant!

15683, 15686 (still has dead LED's), 17017 and a UID Scania on 300. i was unfortunately on 15683. lost power on a national speed limit hill, couldn't kick down a gear to get power back with the gearbox ratio's being too low.
16653 on 600.
52635 sat on annexe this morning with ticket machine in. 14258 on as well.
14234 and 16652 on staff shuttles.
16734 on 48.

52408 and 52627 on 685.
16397 on 554.
20924 is a spare in Carlisle city centre.

20945 on 51.... where have all the Solos gone?
OK, so 11 solos at LL for town services and short 300, 11 LF route allocations for town services and short 300. So, from what has been reported today, one in workington (perhaps one on short 300). But how can that turn-out, seriously.

Why can't they have the right buses allocated on right LF routes! why is it so hard to put all six allocated solos on workington town services. This really shouldnt be difficult, unless all a large chunck of solos have died, which is unlikely (or the bus wash!)

Most posts on here in relation to west cumbria will include a 'rant' about the lack of LL's LF's... even though there 'isnt' actually a shortage!!, it isnt just the odd day, its everyday. I joke, if this was carlisle, passengers would be on Reays ;) - rant over :)

if reays came to workington they would probably take most of stagecoaches passengers becos stagecoach in workington and whitehaven are rubbish they hardley ever have optares on the runs that they should be on and they have old h reg double deckers on 30s. rubbish. it wouldent happen anywhere else where theres competition

Workington... Yay.

Talk about a sweeping statement..... Yes, Lillyhall do have to use step entrances on low floor routes. This is not their decision.... we get what we are given! We all know the service could be better, but that isn't going to happen until LL get some spare low floors. You clearly have a short memory, do you remember the floods last year? Who did a pretty damn good job at providing emergency services to reconnect the North and South of the Town? Oh, yeah, Stagecoach! Rant over.

Mainly because in areas where there's competition, the profit margins justify newer vehicles. If one operator is struggling to turn a profit on a route with "cheap" older vehicles, the patronage is hardly going to support 2 companies is it?
Likewise, routes with new vehicles that are often overloaded would, probably, benefit from competition.

havn't long got off 17017. wasn't as impressed as i thought i would be! still has 3 speed Voith gearbox, but high ratios. acceleration is still decent. it is still struggling to pick up reverse in Carlisle bus station though!!!

33161 on 93.
34717 on short 685.
20451 replaced 16397 for the 1600 554.
20907 on 1640 300.

Reays needn't complain about Stagecoach having a bus parked up in the city centre all day, they done it themselves today! they also had a man out in the city centre, telling passengers at bus stops to get Reays, cos Stagecoach are just "fare stealers"! (like that isn't harrassment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) he was at the bus station later on tonight shouting that "Stagecoach are a f*cking joke".

I think what he said at the end there sums up whats Reays are about, can't believe how unprofessional that is. If Reays promotional strategy includes swearing then they must be desperate.

14256 didn't stay long! Surprised they even bothered to put the mags in 16877!!

KL will have deliberately put the mags in 16877 to get rid of them; it's easier for Morecambe to dispose of them.

i dont have a short memory they did what anyother bus company would have done they did it so they could still make money thats all. northern trains also put extra trains on so it wasent just stagecoach. i no its not lilyhalls fault but stagecoach are a massive company theres no exuse for all the crap that they have here. my mrs was on one of them old double deckers the other day to go to the hospital she said the rain water was pouring in the bus then she got a 47 to come home and it was another step bus. theres alot of folk up seaton complaning about the busses and my mrs said that there was alot of people moaning on that double decker on the 30 about all the water on the bus and it stunk of fumes aswell.

There is an ongoing issue with Cumbria as a whole because it just doesn't seem to get the same level of investment as other regions. There are plenty of step entrance buses around in all regions, for example ME has a lot of B10s and LL now have very few. We still have a load of Vol Olys and 2/3 Leylands in service. From what I'm told its a lot to do with the allocations at LL, people are forever moaning that, for example a step entrance bus is on a LF route and a solo is on staff shuttle or in the bus wash etc. It is often down to how each individual depot organise themselves.

A few sightings from a short spell in Carlisle this afternoon:

20895 was on 67/68 before being replaced by 34715
20904 on 94
20959 on 104
47722 on 69

wondered what 47722 was doing! it went past me at approx 1630 on West Tower Street! wasn't around much at all through the day to see what was on 69.

Not sure what it was doing at 1630: the last 69 journey finishes at 1459. Pity the light was so poor today: the best shot I got of it was this one.

Also noticed that 15686 was without destination screen. Those boards don't fit too well in the Enviro window:

it was heading back to the depot, not in service.
after the last 69, it'll have sat in the bus station, then went out for school route 521. i've often seen the bus from that go onto 66's after the 521, but 20904 done them 66's.

BEJ also lost its destination blinds on its 4th day in service.... glad to see they have put some ads in the advertisment boards too :)

Leaking-Leyland? aha. Optare Solo 47060 leaks like a sieve as well
Things 'do' get noticed on here, but if you have problem or issue, email NW head office if you think its necessary.

Oh, and any further mentions on 34218 being sent up/has been sent up to LL? - storage or service???

Thanks for that info: I am very rarely in the centre of Carlisle after three o'clock, so I have no idea what happens to the bus which comes off the 69.

No sooner said.........
http://gallerynorth.fotopic.net/p68050544.html

Whitehaven Dayrider ad's already applied.

how much service would it actually see in Whitehaven
one of the Marshalls had Whitehaven adverts on, and spent most of its time in Workington! same with the KX51 Solo's before the low floor shortages!

16355 replaced 16397 for the 1600 554.
20909 was spare in City Centre, ended up on 62's at 1610-ish (City Centre - ASDA).
33161 on short 685.
